[Social] Bring back Inbox/Messaging with Notifications

The Inbox/Messaging feature did not get a real shot at even being a feature because Spotify took away notifications for new messages. Give Inbox/Messaging some development so users can continue to privately share songs.

We're excited to announce that this feature is making a return! 😎 The new revamped Messages lets users share content directly with friends inside the Spotify app and instantly start a conversation about it.

Yes, it used to work badly.

Even when it worked badly, I still used it all the time!

Please return this feature.

All the message logs also gone? Bummer!

This feature hasn't been used massively because notifications did not work! Please bring this feature back with working notification and usage will skyrocket!

GIANT FAIL, spotify. Absolutely GIANT. 

 

messaging wasn't used much because it was a hot mess. but, it was still used. my cowokrers and friends and i used it a lot. i kept hoping you'd improve it; make more intuitive, easier to access, etc. you're supposed to be all about community. removing messaging isn't community; it's lazy. thanks a lot.

I loved sharing plylists with ma buds. Please bring it back. Also bring back them lyrics, y'all, can't be that hard to code in lol.

Very disappointed that spotify took this feature away. One of my fav features of Spotify. Was it that hard to maintain? I love sending songs and albums to friends as well as receiving suggestions. Frustrated with Spotify over this. Please bring this feature back.

Came here to say the same thing. This is a huge part of why I joined and stayed with Spotify. I've been sending people songs for months, come to find out, they had no idea, nor have any idea where to access their messages. Weak... bring it back, and don't hide it somewhere. This should be on the front page. SPOTIFY IS SUPPOSED TO BE SOCIAL

Please bring back the inbox function. It brings a social element to Spotify that I'd miss dearly. Sharing songs between friends is one of my favorite things to do. Other's in this comment section echo this.

Don't make me use yet another social platform to do this haphazardly. Or worse, make me skip sharing of songs altogether and defect to simply sending Youtube videos.

I think you (Spotify) are missing a trick in not developing this feature. Especially in combination with the friends activity bar within the app. Sharing music, seeing what others are listening to, liking their listens etc has real potential as a social tool. Considering your reach as a listening platform, there seems to be very little real-time visibility for users and opportunites for interaction.
