[Your Music] Add LOCAL FILES to Your Music

First of, I'm a huge fan of the new layout.

But as the title says I'd like to add my own beloved local files to the "Your Music". I don't see why this shouldn't be a possibilty. This way I don't need to have one master playlist, I can just have all the music I like under "Your Music -> Songs".

Also, as suggested earlier, changing the font size could be usable to many people.

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

We're happy to announce that the option to add Local Files to your Liked Songs playlist is now available on both the mobile and desktop apps!

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

I agree with the others, this is a pretty basic feature and is supported by your competitors.  I'm tempted more and more every day to switch to Google...

@dewbertdc

Just do it, google play music is great, specially for people with lots of actual "your  music" collections not available for streaming.

Once you do that initial upload it's great to have all "your music" anywhere on any internet connected device you might have.

I'd like to add myself to what I'm sure is a long list of people who want this feature.

I like Spotify, I even have a subscription. But I've never been able to get my local music integrated with Spotify very well. Plus, as far as I understand, I have to make use of local files because Spotify only allows for 3,333 offline downloads on your mobile device, which wouldn't be enough to cover my library if I were even able to find all my music in Spotify's catalogue.

I recently tried out Google Play, sort of out of desperation. I'm not fan of Google and I want to stick with Spotify, but I'm now considering subscribing to Google Play and ditching my Spotify subscription. The way in which Google allows you to upload your local files, which are then seamlessly integrating into your Google library, is exactly what I want from my music player and it's exactly what's missing from Spotify.

Just want to add my voice to this list.

From an interface perspective, I love Spotify. It's gorgeous, super easy to get the hang of, and non-intrusive.

However, the inability to integrate my local files is a huge dealbreaker for me. The main reason I subscribed to Spotify was the ability to use the mobile app to mix playlists that consisted of my local stuff AND newly found things on Spotify so I could listen to them during my commute or at the office.

Spotify, please. I want you to become my only media player; I'm tired of jumping between three or four different apps for my music needs. Give us back the ability to integrate our local files and you will have a lot of very happy subscribers.

As it is, I'm shopping for alternatives and it just pains me in the doing. This shouldn't be a "not right now" idea, as it's clearly pretty important to a lot of people singing the same song here, who knows how many might have unsubbed.

I couldn't agree more, lumichroma. Reading your thoughts on this issue only remind you how frustrated I am about this matter.

Right now I am reluctantly trying out Google Play Music All Access, which is great in it's integration of local files. However, I don't love the interface, I don't want to use a Google product, and I don't want to leave Spotify.

I'm curious, what solutions have you found, if any?

Again, Spotify, this concern seems to be pressing among many users. Please make it possible for us to fully use Spotify as our only music app.

Hope_Amongst_Us, I was considering giving Google Play Music a try, since it's been a couple years since I last dabbled with it. The interface doesn't thrill me, though overall I have no issue with Google products.

I've played around with Amazon Prime Music, since I buy a large quantity of my mp3s through them anyway, but the desktop interface is less than desirable so far. They make it very hard to tell whether you're going to play a track, preview it, or potentially (accidentally) buy it, which I really don't like. I'm also still trying to figure out a smooth way to integrate my own songs, but that seems to be the challenge across the board.

Honestly, if I wanted to be really fussy, I would just like an interface that lets me drag and drop the files from my Finder/Explorer folders and into a playlist I make. No muss, no fuss, just that easy. I have a vast collection of imported music I've bought, some of which is just badly tagged or not ID'd at all because it's not a language I'm fluent in, so trying to search it via the player interface is unsuccessful 90% of the time. Spotify USED to have this functionality, which was perfect. It'd be great to have it back.

'Your Music' is used by many of us in place of the old 'Starred' playlist for our current favourite tracks. Some favourites are local tracks. I now have to make a separate 'current favourites' playlist in order to have a mix of both spotify and local tracks, rendering my 'Your Music' redundant. Which is a shame since it was really nice being able to add things to it quickly using the 'plus' button (formerly the star). Extremely frustrating.

This function has still not been fixed, any update?

I tried Spotify for the first time this month, and was astonished that this feature does not exist.  I just switched to Google Play.

I almost always listen to one artist at a time, so this would really be a huge improvement. So many of the tracks I like are missing from Spotify, I actually don't think it's worth it to pay every month anymore if I have to purchase music that will import but require a new playlist with every single artist.
