[Your Music] Add & Remove Content separately (Artist, Album, Songs)

I am really enjoying the new update that I received earlier today that adds the "Your Music" area to Spotify, but I would like to throw out some ideas to help make the feature more enjoyable.

While using the new + feature to add songs to the songs list in the "Your Music" area I noticed that it also adds the artist and the album to their respected areas. You should be able to remove an album and/or artist from their list without it removing that specific song from it's list. This feature should be implemented for the song, artist, and album section.

Example:

If I click the new + symbol on the song: "Bun B - Get Throwed", it will add it to the song, artist, and album list in the new "Your Music" section.

If I remove that song from the "song" list in the "Your Music" area it will remove the song from the artist and album list as well.
If I remove that album from the "album" list in the "Your Music" area it will remove the song and artist list as well.

If I remove that artist from the "artist" list in the "Your Music" area it will remove the song and album list as well.

I should be able to edit and arrange these individual list to my liking. If I want a "Bun B" track in my song list, but not in my album and artist list I should have the ability to do so.

Hey folks,

Thanks for adding your vote to this idea.

The recent update to Spotify has changed the way liking things works that now reflect this idea.

Liking an album or song won’t automatically follow the artist, but you can follow them from their artist profile and find Recommended artists to follow in Your Library where you can follow them with one tap.

If you'd like to know more about the changes to the app, you can check out the article here.

Thanks 💚

It's not perfect but you can sort by album or artist

I don't want to be rude but this is possibly the worst idea implemented. The new Library implementation is so confusing. 🙁

Maybe opening a new thread to request bringing back the old Library could help... I am also curious if that thread would surpass 752 votes ...🙄

It's not just the library, I have given up on that one. I make my own library in 'Your music/Playlists", but now they are even ruining that. I put every new playlist I make in alphabetical order between the other playlists, and now Spotify moves the most recently played playlist to the top (in the phone app), messing up the alphabetical order. It seems as if they are purposely trying to drive people away.

I love this implemented idea. Brought me back to Spotify now. Thanks a lot!

Now I'm able to collect my songs and albums like I did in older times with my MP3 files. Liked songs are shown in "Liked Songs" and not in "Albums" anymore. And liked albums you can find in "Albums" only and not all songs from an album additionally in "Liked Songs". Great!

DenalB, me too! I’m happy to see liking a song doesn’t add the album to my albums anymore. I can’t understand why users like MixHypnotic would want that to happen.

The same goes for liking an album — I don’t understand why MixHypnotic and a like would prefer every song in the album to show up in their favorite songs.

@MixHypnotic – I’m one of these horrible people that like to sort songs and albums independently. Great UI update!

@heikkipekka & @superpanic

Good to know that I'm not the only one who loves this ui update! 😉

What would be the problem in just giving us the OPTION to list all albums we liked or stored a song from, as well as the OPTION to list all artists whose songs are in our playlist or we liked?

I have absolutely no problem when people find this unnecessary, and can happily live without those possibilities.

But anyone promoting that it's alright for spotify to TAKE OPTIONS AWAY from users with different browsing habits are selfish pricks imho.

Technically and logically it would be no problem to give users both options, but neither technology nor logic seem to play a noticeable role in spotify's ui updating any more.

heikkipekka

I must admit I had problem with understanding why some people opposed to the change.

I do now understand you just want a way to be able to see all artists in your playlists no matter be they your favorite artists or not.

You would think there would be easy way to solve that.

It'd be great if this ever gets considered by Spotify. I have no idea why saving an album, would save all the songs as well ... I like to save my favourite albums, but not necessarily all of it's songs. I often use the "Artist from your library" mode, listening to saved songs from a certain artist. But then if I save an album of that artist, all of the songs from it will appear there. That makes me not want to save any albums, which is really inconvenient and unorganized.
