[All Platforms] Light Mode option

Hi,

The new white text on black design physically hurts my eyes and gives very bad ghosting (i.e. persistent image like those in optical illusions that make you stare at particular color combinations and then look away). I know I'm not the only one with this issue because I've researched it in the past. Without an option to switch back to the old design (White background/black text), I'll need to delete my Spotify account and find another service. Please add an option to switch between the two (because I know many prefer black backgrounds). Myself and a host of others, however, cannot use these color combinations. Please let me know if there is a work-around; it would be much appreciated. It's basically unusable to me in it's current state.

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange.

This idea has been set to Not Right Now for quite a while now. In this time we’ve regularly monitored it and are aware of its popularity. We appreciate the feedback you’ve left and have regularly reported and discussed it with the relevant team. 

In light of these discussions we wanted to let you know that although possible in the long term, there are no plans to implement this in the immediate future. We’ll be setting the status to closed for now, to match our new Idea Exchange statuses. 

As soon as we have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Can we please have the option to have a light mode? I struggle to see well with dark mode (not just on Spotify). Please give us the option to keep the original dark code.

Totally support this! And maybe... also getting to choose the canvas, and the background on full screen for desktop devices.

I beg you to work on having an option for the background to be white. It's very hard on my eyes to read the white text on a black background, and I know other folks have mentioned this. Please move it up in priority. Happy premium user here.

I usually don’t comment, but this is something I absolutely hate about Spotify. Please consider people with sensitive eyes and offer a light background mode.

This is just ridiculous, sorry, Spotify. You already have the colors for a white mode (looking at this website), so why not just use this color scheme on your app, too, and make thousands of people happy, plus make using your app healthier? This is not just some nice to have feature, this is important. People can't read the texts and it's bad for the eyes. I can't believe you are just closing this without any proper explanation. This isn't even difficult to implement. There is no reason to not implement it asap. I am a programmer myself and this makes me sad.

I notice you don't have the respect to give an actual reason why its rejected. Because there is no possible reason except stubbornness.

Everything has a light and a dark mode these days for OBVIOUS reasons. Its even baked in to operating systems. Everything except Spotify.

Your own website is even in light mode. Laughable!

I've been a Spotify Premium user for eight years but I'm now moving to Amazon Prime Music. I cannot believe the breathtaking arrogance of Spotify; a company that loves preaching about how virtuous they are and yet, they wantanly ignore the needs of users who have genuine and real usability issues with the Spotify UI.

What a crass statement to make. You expect OUR understanding yet you are unwilling to understand the needs of tens of thousands of customers who have difficulty using your product. 

Add in the fact Spotify doesn't even offer HD music and their offering is now the poorest value in the market, and the company is clearly the least responsive to its customer's needs. I hope thousands of other users see this discussion and make the same decisions as me - companies who don't care about usability deserve to lose customers.

Makes me curious what holds this team back from offering such an easy option in order to satisfy customers...because it seems other apps, for example, apple music has the option...to switch Light or Dark theme......it is not uncommon and it is a reasonable customer request.
