[All Platforms] Option to have a true shuffle

So I’ve been noticing more and more recently that Spotify’s default shuffle feature doesn’t fully shuffle your songs. It does some sort of grouping to try to get similar songs together based off of what I’m sure is dozens of factors. Every time I shuffle a playlist (the one I noticed this with the most is ~100 songs and 6 hours of mostly full albums) it will group the songs mostly or completely together by album/artist, and given the number of times I’ve re-shuffled and checked the order there’s no way it’s just a coincidence. They also generally seem to be in the same order as well. If I hit shuffle play on a playlist it’ll generally put the same artists at the beginning every time.

With larger playlists of albums I am really not a fan of this shuffling method. If I have 6 hours of music on a playlist I will hardly ever have 6 hours to actually listen through the whole thing, but when I do listen to it I would like to hear all of the music on it equally, and not just the artist or two your algorithm likes to shuffle to first.

Anyways, I’m a reasonable man, all I’m asking for is an option to have a true shuffle (take all songs in the list, put them in a random order, and once they’re all played reshuffle them and play them again). Make it premium only if you want. I don’t think you should scrap the current shuffle algorithm because it sucks. Looking at some of the suggestions on here it seems like some people lobbied hard to have it that way. Just add an option for a true shuffle for those of us that don’t care about potentially getting the same song twice in a row.

Spotify won't be intimidated by a LOLsuit

The only thing they'll understand is loss of revenue.

Loss of YOUR subscription won't be enough to sway them either but, trust me and others here who have made the same decision, in this case the grass really is greener on the other side. So YOU will be happier. Honestly .

And who knows, if enough listeners leave Spotify their record company business partners might notice and start leaving, too, and maybe THEN they will start taking notice.

But the nicest thing is that, once you take that first step and leave this joke of a streaming service, it won't matter to YOU any more.

This has an obscene amount of votes and comments yet nothing has changed. Yes, PLEASE PLEASE get rid of this “feature”. The shuffle is AWFUL and every playlist and even radio for certain songs and artists “tailors” it to what I’ve already heard and I hear the same songs OVER AND OVER again. It’s driving me mad!!!! I searched and people have been asking to get rid of this for YEARS! Will Spotify ever listen to their customers?

CheebaQueen they really don't.

I use a 3rd party website to create a random ordered playlist of all my likes (to truly have a shuffled playlist). My playlist is 9000+ songs long and I regularly lose my place in the playlist order, for instance when I listen to some other playlist or album, and it would be cool to have the playlist automatically remove each track as it is listened to when playing the specific playlist (without affecting my Like status or other playlists of course).

I have over 500 saved songs on my playlist, and whenever I press shuffle I get the same hand full of songs. I want to listen to different songs other than those 7 songs!! I’m not sure if this is just a bug or if it’s happening to others as well but it’s very annoying!

What third-party site or program do you use? I would love to try it! People
have been complaining for years and Spotify doesn’t seem to **bleep**.

CheebaQueen - I use Deezer, but others use Amazon Music. Some others: Tidal, YouTube Music and Apple Music. I suggest that you give them a go with their trial period and decide which you like best 🙂
