I really appreciate Spotify allowing you to change your display name.

I get that the username is used as ID, so this is a good solution if it weren't for one thing: The URL of your profile.

If you created an account before your username started being random letters and numbers, it will continue to show your username.

So if you were to change your display name to be something else, whatever you named yourself might show up on playlists and what not, but the old username will continue to follow you in the URL.

And I get you can't simply change the URLs to be the same as the display name, since from what I've seen, you can have identical display names, and that would get messy.

So I think it would only be fair that if on request, your URL can be changed to something else.

Maybe put a limit on it, so it can't be done frequently.

I think that would just be great for everyone who feels like completely getting rid of old names they're embarrassed of and what not.

**bleep**, I would be fine even if the URL just followed the same random number and letter formula.

Just give us the option to do it at least.

It would just be helpful and make the whole name changing thing as good as it can be.

Absolutely agreed. We need the ability to have custom profile URLs please. (Not just for artists!) We (users) are supporting you instead of the big competition eg Apple, Google. Please, come on Spotify!

Please, for the love of Spotify, changing the username of our own Spotify account promotes professionalism and worldwide identity, as this feature allows us to express our own identity and helps identifying others Spotify users as well.

In my case, my username matches my email address, and when I want to share my profile, this information gets exposed. I believe it would be beneficial for many users if Spotify allowed username changes without affecting account identity.

It would be great to be able to change/edit our usernames in Spotify! I created my username when I was 11 and I would very much like to change it. I know you can add your name so that's what shows when someone views your profile, but if I share my profile you can see my username in the link. I also know that you can change your username on this site, but that doesn't transfer over to your actual Spotify username.

I would like this to be implemented as well. It is very possible that you didn't think good enough while creating username or don't like it anymore for whatever reason. There must be a possibility to change username. We live in 2025, the IT is developed far enough, it shouldn't be so difficult to implement.

(this account was created years ago, when it was still possible to change it)

Would it be possible to add this feature again - changing the numeric name in the URL - so that it would be easier to share the profile?

(Because those numbers are long and hard to remember)

I think it’s time to give users the ability to change their usernames.

Right now, many of us are stuck with a random string of letters and numbers as our username, which makes it really hard for friends to find our profiles — even if we’ve set a proper display name. It feels outdated, especially when most other platforms let you choose or update your username

Here’s what I’m suggesting:

• Allow users to choose a custom username when creating an account or later in their settings
• Or at least make it possible to search for profiles using the display name, not just the system-generated username
• This would massively improve profile discoverability and make the experience more social and user-friendly

It would make a big difference for a lot of users.
