[All Platforms][Other] Time to feature Dolby Atmos

I can do that very briefly. Don't let Tidal overtake you. Tidal now supports Dolby Atmos. I am a musician and work as a sound engineer. Atmos and similar formats are now gaining more and more interest. That is why Tidal now has a corresponding offer. I can only recommend Spotify to do so, otherwise you will lose users to the competition.

Just to add in my 2 cents.

Please stop asking to re-signup for premium until Spotify has:

  • Add Atmos Support / Tracks
    • When I first listened to Atmos tracks I was not a fan. But the more atmos tracks artists are releasing, the more I'm finding I enjoy them.
  • Separation between podcasts and music
    • At least allow some configuration/customization. If I want the first thing I see when opening the app to be music, let me choose. If I want podcasts, let me choose. Don't force a paying customer to use what you're trying to promote.
  • Lossless audio would be a nice addition as well

I used to prefer the spotify UI, but it's become so bloated lately the Apple Music interface is better (TBF/H, I also haven't logged into Spotify in probably ~8+ months)

But Spotify's competition is offering more, and for less. I understand it may be difficult to complete with the most cash rich companies on the planet, but at least make an effort in providing what you're consumer base is asking for.

I listen to a lot of smaller creators and enjoy there music a lot and music is my escape. I’m only 16 and enjoy audio design very much and want to take it professionally. I’ve been working hard to earn money to build a home hifi set from hand, I’ve done my research on everything for a few years but I guess I let this fly over my head. I just spent 4 years of summers working my ass off to make my project come to life just to find out that I spent over $400 and over 30 hours building my surround system just for Spotify to limit me to 2 channels. I’m switching to Apple/Amazon Music who supports Dolby but unfortunately some of my artist don’t even have their work on those services. So now I can only listen to them on Spotify which leaves me without full audio or I can not listen to them at all. Spotify ofc doesn’t care about their users and I’d have better luck getting my favorite artists to move their work to Apple then I would at getting Spotify to include atmos. For such a big company they sure are behind on tech

I decided to try out Tidal's 3 month free trial just for fun, but now I don't think I can go back to just listen to Spotify poor audio quality. I have the Sony WH-1000XM4 and from what I have gathered listening to Tidal's HiFi, Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio I came to the conclusion that those headphones are wasted on Spotify. I am currently trying out other music streaming platforms that have--if not all three at least-- Dolby Atmos. I have even gone as far as to download Apple Music on my Android for research purposes. Hopefully Spotify acquires all three HiFi, Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio because I love their playlist recommendations, UI and "Spotify Wrapped" but if that doesn't happen imma head out 😗✌️.

We, as users, have been expressing our desire for the addition of Lossless and Dolby Atmos features for a long time, but Spotify remains unresponsive. It seems like they consider these features unimportant. 😞

With the upcoming price increase, I'm hoping you plan to finally incorporate Dolby Atmos. There are alternatives to Spotify you know...

My Question or Issue

My setup: PS5 - android tv (sony) - soundbar (with 2 satellites in the back for surround).

When I listen to music on the spotify app on the TV itself it get the full surround experience, but when I use the spotify app on PS5 the music is purely 2 channel and no sound from the back, even if the game im playing while listening to music comes from the back. Since Dolby Atmos is something sony added to the PS5 under a year ago, I'm guessing that's why you guys left out the support for it? So you decided to just send 2ch. Could someone look into this and possibly apply a patch so that the PS5 spotify app doesn't restrict itself unnecessary anymore? Or is there actually still a limitation in the PS5 reserving the broader channels for the games??

Apple Music is already featuring 'Always On' Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio forcing me to leave the Spotify platform for a better audio quality experience and for the same price. After all this year of loyalty to Spotify I just simply realized Apple Music has way better audio quality after I got a brand new iPhone with a 6 months trial and the audio difference is just magnificent and for the same price is just a deal changer. A 7 Years Spotify user switching to a better audio experience for the same price is just great.

i have finally got my HT system all together and set up. While purchasing the components I was not planning on including speakers for Atmos because I'm 90% music and was under the impression that Atmos had no bearing on music and I don't watch enough TV to have the interest in it. However after watching a movie at a friend's place with an Atmos setup I changed my mind and the final pair of speakers I got can be used as bookshelf speakers and include the hardware to mount them on the wall or ceiling so I mounted them on the wall but up at ceiling level with the intention of getting another pair to use as rear surrounds and either upgrading to a 9.2 or getting a switch box for going back and forth between 7.2 or 5.2.2 when switching between music and movies. But I have since discovered that some music is being mastered and remastered in Atmos and that several music streaming services are offering it, I am wondering why my service of choice is not. Why is Spotify lagging behind here?

I've heard a couple of rumours in the industry that Spotify is going to include Atmos, maybe sooner than we think.
