[All Platforms] Setting for max Cache Size Allowance

The android version of Spotify currently doesn't have a setting for how much disk space the cache is allowed to take up, so it just keeps getting larger and larger until the entire drive is full. 

A music streaming app should not need several gigabytes of  drive space. Give us the option to cap this - getting real tired of getting told I'm out of disk space and having to manually wipe it.

Let users define a maximum value for cache, it is ridiculous needing to be clearing cache everyday specially since most phones these days come with ridiculous 128/256 storage

I've been aware of this issue for years now. I've been constantly deleting my 10GB+ spotify cache for years. Spotify is always the app that takes up the most storage on my phone even though I never download songs (to save storage space...). I do not understand why we cant have a Max Cache Size setting...

This horrendous Spotify storage 10 GB broke my microsd card 128 GB.

It seems like Spotify updates cache constantly, so cycles are running in cards. Card is always slower and not so reliable, so I'd like to have 1 GB cache only. It's a streaming app for a reason! I will go tomorrow to return 1,5 year old microcard as faulty and Spotify broke it. It just writes constantly data. Now the app also loses Offline status in list and it gets redownloaded.

Tired of this. Also opening app is slow because micro sd card is exhausted by now. Limit is needed.

I can't believe that even to this day, the Spotify engineers have done absolutely nothing... I have to delete my Spotify cache almost every week from my device because it reaches 4gb mark regularly. Please for the love of god and for my and others sanity's sake, add the cache limit feature already! It's literally just a couple of hours of work 👏

Reading all of these comment angers me so much that a company of this size can be sooo ignorant to what the users actually want! For six years people have been complaining about this problem with the fix being quite simple to implement. For three years the appeal has been "reaching the internal teams at Spotify". Do your developers live on pluto for the message to reach them so long?!

Have these devs ever heard of cache invalidation or Time-to-Live?? What's the point of a "cache" if it's all just sittin' there indefinitely? Just treat everything that's "cached" as "downloaded" because it is virtually the same at this point. The issue is that this is more or less a power-user issue. The default user won't see this, at most they will some day realize that their internal memory is going down and use the device's native clean-up feature, but no default user will ever check how much storage is used by Spotify and how much of that is its "cache". Now, big companies in the consumer market don't care about power-users, and why should they. The proportion of money flow that comes from power-users is so little compared to "non-power-users", so it really doesn't make sense from their perspective to invest time in features like these.

On my Samsung F22, the cache takes a whopping 1.5Gb. Current version is 9.0.72.967

Can we have a feature to restrict cache size to lets say 500Mb or anything custom defined by user ?

It is simply bizzare that so much storage space is hogged by 'Cache'

I don't think they'll change this any time soon however it looks like that on Android the cache is limited to 10GB automatically.  With most phones coming with 256gb and higher of storage it's not normally an issue for most users.

This is so dumb, there should be a simple slider to limit the amount of cache, 1GB, 5GB, 10GB or unlimited or custom perhaps. Let the user select and don’t fill up my phone..
