[Android] Remove the Shuffle / Play Button

Hi, I tried out your new design, which I have mixed feelings about, but nevermind that. The most annoying thing I come over in the new Spotify (for iPhone by the way) is the dumb, big, overlapping, unnecessary shuffle play button that pops up everywhere. Is this a bug or is this on purpose? Could at least had add an option for it. Also, it doesn't look streamlined at all with the current design. Did it even occur that not everyone wants a shuffle play button?

I think what you describe is exactly why users are confused: 

There is no dedicated "Play Album" button... Instead you find the shuffle button that many people don't use. Tapping the first song of an album to play the whole album is not intuitive.

Seit vielen Monaten derartig starke Kritik von zahlenden Usern an diesem sch... Button und es wird nicht reagiert? Sehr arm. Man ist hier offensichtlich nicht an der zahlenden Handykundschaft interessiert. Wie viele sind verärgert, die sich nicht hier äußern?

Ich habe mich heute auch angemeldet, wollte mal testen, ob es eine sinvolle Alternative zu meinem simfy-Account ist. Wäre es, aber dieser Button geht mir so auf die Nerven:

a) er versperrt die Sicht,

b) ich treffe ihn häufig ausversehen.

Wenn sich das in absehbarer Zeit nicht ändert, bin ich weg und lande bei der Konkurrenz

on the iphone4 shuffle is always on. repeat can be turned on and off. COULD YOU PLEASE ALLOW SHUFFLE TO BE TURNED ON OR OFF ... to allow people who are practicing to hear a sequence of songs ... THANKS.

Try make that a double acting button. Left side is "play" and turns green when clicked and plays in sequencial order. Right side is " Shuffle" turns green and play turns gray. Then it shuffles..... It's obtrusive to assume tha everyone wants to shuffle all the time and one has to google to find the solution to "not" shuffle. Think classical music, think playing albums....

I can't beleive how stubborn the Spotify crew is about this, that they continue to ignore this topic.

As 99% of us agree, the button is large and ugly and imposing on already sparse space. And it follows you wherever you scroll. Changing its function to play would be totally redundant since a single-tap on any song starts play anyway. Just loose it altogether. Keep things clean!

Why can I not have a regular Play button on my iPhone for the Spotify playlists? I hate only having a Shuffle play option.

on my Ipad - I can't find how to NOT shuffle play - is this possible?  Shuffle play for a symphony or concerto or movie score is a nonsense!  Help please

The Shuffle button especially hurts A LOT on smaller screens.. I tried to play Matthew Passion on my iPod Touch iOS6, there is the big SHUFFLE button taking up precious screen space, then the tiny screen (need to scroll up to see the list, not so intuitive) is only showing 59 times Bach, JS : St Matthew Passion BWV244...  I can't see what track is actually played, made worse by Spotify's bad track naming (Yes I KNOW that I am playing Matthew Passion, Yes I KNOW it is from JS Bach No I DONT CARE it is BWV244) so as a result I dont know if it is shuffling or not. But when I listen playing the first track, I am SURE Spotify automatically goes into Shuffle play. There is NO WAY that I get any visual feedback such as the Shuffle play button being "pressed" or so. Imagine what happens to my humour after 5 minutes using Spotify.

Spotify playing classic music in this form is a total disaster, really!

Developers advice: if you MUST have that Shuffle button, make it clearly in On and Off state.

Content managers: pleas use track naming such as 10-Aria "Buss und Rue" instead of Bach, JS : St Matthew Passion BWV244: Aria "Buss und Rue". Even on my large iPad the track titles are not shown!

Same goes for me, and I've been quite vocal about the asinine big green shuffle button since its introduction. Not only it adds nothing, it consumes considerable screen space, especially on older devices. I don't see how this is deemed a "not right now" issue for the Spotify staff. It's a very basic piece of user interaction that obviously proves to be a hindrance (judging from the number of comments) for several users. How hard would it be to redesign it, or better yet, omit it entirely?
