Bring back the heart button!

It's SUPER frustrating, we can't see which songs we liked in our own playlists, Bring back the heart button PLEASE, the new way doesn't work AT ALL

The lack of likes has made my life measurably worse.  Being able to leave notes to myself about whether or not I like a track is vital to me in evaluating music.  I truly hate what Spotify has done to it.  Sure, making "liked songs" a playlist SUCKED for sure.  But now tracks show as "liked" if they're in ANY playlist.  So now if I put an album in a playlist I FULLY LOSE THE ABILITY to tell which songs I liked.  This is an absolutely user-hostile action and makes my music listening experience less enjoyable and more difficult every single day.

YUP. I find it particularly annoying and inefficient that when I am listening to my liked songs on shuffle & come across something I no longer want in my liked songs, it takes extra clicks to remove it. A single tap to add or remove a heart was quick & easy. Not sure what the point of this update was when it adds extra screens/clicks without really enhancing anything. Like many in this thread, I have used Spotify premium for ~10 years & adjusted to plenty of updates, but this one is clunky and pointless…

I never updated my client until today and have a single 200+ hour long playlist with 2,675 songs. My only way to navigate this beast was to look through the pattern of likes along with the date added to know where I should start playing from for any given mood and day. Both of these are now gone from the UI making my last 4 years of collecting music a horrible mess to work with. RIP using spotify

Hey guys, Spotify cannot give you an official link to install older versions, but for people on PC I did find that the May 2020 version found here has likes and dates added in your playlists (You need to expand the options and keep scrolling down). Just be aware that if any issues do occur with the old version Spotify won’t be able to help since it’s not an official version of Spotify.

I was told by a member of their CM team:
"You can share it with the Community although we do not advise it since other people have different devices and specifications that can make existing issues worse or create a new technical issue."
So please do be wary on using this solution, but until Spotify resolves the issue, it worked for me ^_^

Edit: It seems that you can get android there as well and this thread seems to detail how on iOS (https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/Where-I-Can-Download-An-Older-Version-Of-Spotify/td...)

It is so confusing not having a like button but you have a liked playlist

I came here just for this. I miss the hearts. Not just for the cute appearance, but it  makes me sift through long lists. I never listen to the liked songs list, i use them just for indication. Without Spotify really lacks a function. On the developer side it prob looked superflues, but on the customer side the function had it's own meaning. Plus it sifts lists for artists too. I think they like the feedback too.

One note to Spotify. Your feedback function is the worst of all the apps i've got. Maybe you can make polls before removing functions and please make the comment section connected to the app login, so you do not have to log in seperately.

This feels like a joke. It seems that instead of fixing the long lasting issue with missing like button on duplicit songs, they remove the like feature altogether! 😂😂🤣🤣 I am crying laughing, but it's not funny.

TBH no service seems to care about user experience anymore, it's not a Spotify exclusive problem.

They hire people to look at number of clicks and analyse the ammount of time users spent on the app. Direct feedback is just ignored and threads like this one are hidden until they starve and die.

This is the first time I have had to speak out here in the community, and I will start with:  WHY?

Why did you have to change the "liked songs" button? I used it as way to organize (bookmark) hundreds and hundreds of songs, the way it is right now REALLY scr*wed up the app, I simply can't make playlists any longer. It's messy, counterintuitive!

To me it's a "how can we make the app worse" type of idea.

The crucial characteristic of the heart button is its availability. It is a generic multitool to tag a song, maybe not always because I like it but just to mark it for later. One button, one click, easily accessed, even in the car.

It now takes three clicks to achieve the same thing, so it has become completely unusable.

It is also fundamental to see those marks in the playlist listing, without having to open a menu.

Removing the heart button was a big mistake.

There is plenty of space in the now-playing view to add a new button for adding songs to playlists, but the three dots up/right does well for that so no change is really needed.

If you want to do something useful, add generic tags to songs, searchable.
