Hi there,

I think many users get annoyed by those "local" recommendations that are based on the country that is chosen by their payment method.

E.g. I'm living in Europe, where English language is not local language, and I'm getting recommendations for the local songs, which I don't like, and I'd prefer English music over that, is there any chance I could change my country of recommendations to US or Canada?

How has this not been implemented yet - I’m freakin sick of it on top of the podcasts. Probably going to switch to a less obnoxious streaming service.

After five years and being the idea with the second highest number of votes, and there's still no change.

Pretty poor performance from a company that is desperate for profit, which it mostly makes from it's premium customers.

If you want to keep and grow your subscriber base, try delighting your users instead of pissing them off.

Just a suggestion.

How hard it is to make a setting with a checkbox list of countries/languages that user want music to be from/in ...

I have an idea why this has not been implemented yet. See Spotify has different prices for different countries, and how do why is that? It's because not all songs are available in every country, thus your price tag correlates directly with how many songs you're allowed. If they were to make our suggestion available, one of two things could happen 1) playlists would be filled with "this song is not available right now" and a grey outline 2) they would be providing you with more music than you're paying for. Now to debunk these outcomes 1) we already face certain songs that are not available so having more songs that are greyed out isn't a problem 2) we can already search for most songs we like, and as I said before they could just grey out or not even include the stuff we're not paying for.

This is just a brainstorm to examine the reasons for their refusal.

@drismaeel: All plausible, but their smaller competitors manage to offer this feature, so no excuse for Spotify. They just don't want to. For whatever reason.

I can't believe this is still open. This was one of my earlier pains when starting to use the Spotify platform. I live in France and my mother tongue is English. I wanted recommendations / search results relevant to my selected language. 

Come on Spotify, can it really be that difficult? If not why not? Please make us devoted users understand a little and at least know that you're listening.

Case in point: I start up the Spotify app on my PC this morning and blazoned across the top is "Schlager Hits 2023. Mein Herz schlägt Schlager". I f*ing loathe Schlagermusik. I know many Germans enjoy it (including my wife, when enough alcohol is involved), which is fine, but I detest it.

Spotify has so much information about my listening preferences that it should never promote this. Wouldn't happen if I could set my home country to the UK!

I even have a UK account to try to get around this whole location issue, but I'm located in Germany, so my account "location" gets overridden by my physical location.

And there was me opening Spotify for some relaxing music for work and instead it got my blood boiling. Again.

This makes podcasts on Spotify completely unusable for me. I’ll have to stick to Apple Podcasts until this is supported.

I don't like Swedish country music... Please at least fix the recommendation engine to take into account dislikes...
