[Connect] Option to deactivate Spotify Connect

I want to have the opption to turn it off. Please fix this, i wan't to listen to music and still be online without connect starts.

Please fix this.

Hey everyone,

It seems that this idea ended up in the wrong board accidentally, so we're bringing it back.

We're keeping the Not Right Now status, as we don't have any immediate plans to implement this. As soon as we have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here.

Take care.

I do not want my devices linked. I have different playlists for each device, and the linking feature wastes time having to flip between lists.

This is common sense why isn't there an on/off switch?

When I pressed play on my computer after taking out my ear buds and hooking up my phone to charge there was no sound. I was confused at first but checked to see if everything was hooked up properly and communicating with the headset. Then after all that I looked at the app and in the very bottom right it said Playing through Pixel 6 and I immedietly was upset because why would I ever use my computer to utilize the functions that's on a hand held device. It wasted about 7 minutes of my time, which doesn't seem like much but when you want to relax after a rough day but you're forced to trouble shoot it's just annoying.

Hello @Klyphster,

Thanks for posting on the Spotify Community.

That does sound frustrating but that is just how the Spotify Connect feature works, you can control playback of Spotify on any supported device from any other supported device (such as computer, phone, smart speakers etc).

If you want it to switch automatically, I believe just closing the app on your phone when you're done will disconnect your phone so it plays on your computer, or otherwise selecting the Connect button at the bottom will let you choose what device to play on.

Feel free to reply if there's anything else you want/need to add and I hope you have an enjoyable rest of your day.

Over ten years later and there's still no way to turn off this useless and annoying feature. I have zero interest in having my phone control playback on my PC and vice-versa. Please, please let me turn this nonsense off.

I currently keep at least two playlists on my profile, one to play in my car while driving and another to play at home while working but Spotify keeps what I play in sync between the different devices I use (my phone for the car and my computer - Echo as speakers - for home) and I keep having to switch between the playlists manually when changing between spaces. Either an option to not sync a single device or not sync any device will do. I understand perfectly it is not possible to use Spotify simultaneously in two places with a single account and I`m not intending to do so, just trying to keep my playlist in sync with the spaces I listen to them.

Just discovered today that a notification on my phone will STOP PLAYBACK ON MY DESKTOP APP! Spotify Connect is going to drive me to Spotify Cancel.

I only use Spotify on my phone a few times a year and hadn't opened it in months but suddenly Spotify Connect decided to show a notification that I am playing music on my PC (which I do every day). There's even play controls on my lock screen. The devices are not in the same (W)LAN. "Spotify connect control" is disabled.

This has happened several times in the past, as well. I do not want to control Spotify between my devices. I want to disable this annoying feature.

I actually think that Spotify have sacked all the devs and how all we have are UX designers, because there have been JACK technical updates for about 5 years.
(I mean Christ, it's only a sodding MP3 player with cloud storage, I wrote a local storage version of this in the early 90s!)
Then when the UX guys get involved they can't even get a random playlist shuffle working.
Back to connect, it's takes a special kind of poor programmer to implement Connect, without a disable button.

Whenever I listen on my laptop, despite my Android having battery saver settings on and the Spotify app not being told to play between two devices, I get a "remote controller"-like notification that I. cannot. make. go. away.

It always comes back and provokes my phone to tell me that Spotify is running in the background and is taking too much battery when I wasn't listening from my phone in the first place!

It's a great feature when it's wanted but sometimes I don't want my phone to be involved with the controls at all because I still need my phone battery after the fact, not to mention I'm having a perfectly fine time with the UI from the laptop I'm listening from.

Without an option to toggle these notifications from being generated across devices, I and many others seem to be needing to disable the actually useful notifications 24/7 or find other alternatives. I really have not enjoyed finding my phone going from 80% to 30% after a study session because this notification is always waking my phone up to try to alert me and process the activity from a different device.

It would be fantastic to let this be a feature users could decide on for themselves since it's a feature specific to a user's individual listening + device habits.
