[Connect] Option to deactivate Spotify Connect

I want to have the opption to turn it off. Please fix this, i wan't to listen to music and still be online without connect starts.

Please fix this.

Från en trogen användare sedan år tillbaka 🙂

Hey everyone,

It seems that this idea ended up in the wrong board accidentally, so we're bringing it back.

We're keeping the Not Right Now status, as we don't have any immediate plans to implement this. As soon as we have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here.

Take care.

Status changed to: Not Right Now

2014-11-21

Hey everyone, Spotify staff here. We're marking this idea as 'Not Right Now' since this specific function isn't in our current pipeline. Please note that if you've installed our latest Spotify app for Android (1.8.0) and you're still having trouble with battery drain please let us know right here
We'd also like to mention these other Connect ideas which are a bit more specific to the Connect requests you've made in this thread. Please leave your kudos and feedback in those as well if they address your issue:

Thanks for your feedback everyone. We're very interested to hear your feedback around Connect so please keep it coming!

So, translated then: "If the users don't want what we want, we don't care"?

Why do you need to create and get feedback on a whole new bunch of "ideas"? Are the literally hundreds of posts complaining about issues with Connect that have already been made not only here, but also on Reddit, Twitter and elsewhere not enough for you?

This smacks of Spotify trying to string their paying community along for as long as possible, hoping people will "get used to it" or at least stop complaining so they have an excuse to do nothing.

Well I guess it's time to start shopping for a new service then.

@Meredith : So basically you're splitting the issue into smaller ones that won't get noticed? I know this feature is a safeguard for you to prevent users from sharing their account and I get that you need something like this, but it truly makes the mobile apps unusable for the 90%+ of users that don't nor have any plans to share it. I will seriously consider not renewing my account before you even get any money from me (new subscriber) if this isn't issued, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

this needs to become a top priority.  it completely wrecks how i use spotify, and will likely make me move to a different streaming service.

Please read all the posts and "me too"'s regarding Spotify Connect before dismissing this ideas or splitting it into smaller ideas that won't get noticed as much.  This is my first experience with Spotify Premium and it's not a good one.  When I listen to music on my desktop, Spotify drains my phone battery, uses my data connection, and causes playback interruptions on my desktop.  Playlists and queues get out of sync.  Please let us turn this off!

This is a real bug bear for me - I have an iPod with Spotify running which I connect to my car and it no longer auto plays when I start the car. I have to open the app and tell it that I want it to play on device rather than my work/home PC. I could turn it into offline mode but would then have to remember to go online every now and again for subs and update my playlists!

Hi there,

This issue has been annoying me during the past 2 weeks. I don't know what update you've made, but now, when I open spotify on my laptop at work, it automatically starts on my personal phone. It is simple: I don't want the application running on my phone if I haven't started it, it is wasting battery, and I don't want to control my work laptop from my personal phone.

I see why Connect can be useful, but you cannot force everyone into it. Please, take a look at the usage scenarios, because there are many of them in which Connect can be considered a bug more than a feature. A disable button, a link feature to indicate which devices you want to connect...there are many options there to fix this, but don't just say "not right now", because you've put a really annoying feature in the market, and this should be fixed.

Hope this issue is solved soon...or I'll be forced to look for other alternatives in the market.

I just canceled premium account and will close my account when the rest of my premium sub month runs out. I've stuck with Spotify against my better judgment ever since you took away the ability to see "New Releases" (in honor of "Discover?" Odd how you don't push that quite so hard any more) and I thought your responses to that were arrogant and, honestly, weird (I mean, why wouldn't i want to see a list of new releases? New releases are a big thing in pretty much every entertainment category.) This is worse, however, because there's not any workaround and you're wasting my resources (Battery, bandwidth and processor) for something I don't need. So... I'm doing what I should have done then.

So Spotify your solution to this problem (that breaks functionality) is "we will get to it when we can"?  So for the mean time we just should all root our phones to manually disable this garbage feature or cancel spotify until you can convienance yourselves will looking at this issue?  How about you realize the feature was a major eff up and just roll back the changes?
