[Desktop] Select default sound device for Spotify Connect

Currently Spotify defaults to using the default sound device when launched, it would be neat if you could choose which sound device you want to use instead in the options screen.

Thanks

I really need this! I use xbmc to play films and I need the dts audio to come out via hdmi however on playing spotify I have a usb dac... And I need to tell spotify to use that... Need to specify audio out.... You can on other audio / video apps...

Definitely a required feature. Every single decent music player supports output device selection. I can help writing those ~100 lines of code.

+1 for IndieVolume. The site initially says it is for XP and I think some of the features do only work in XP. However for what we want here it will work with 64bit Windows 7, as long as the application you want to control is 32bit, which Spotify is. I can now choose audio ouput or even better for me play out of both soundcards at the same time. It's about $30 but considering I almost bought Virtual Audio Cable just to be able to do this I will definitely be getting IndieVolume. This has just changed my Spotify world. Shame Spotify themselves couldnt be bothered.

Ugh, It does do what I said but having played around with it for a while it seems to be well buggy. It doesn't crash but it doesnt like it when you change options, sometimes I have to restart the application playing the sound once I change a profile.

I take back my recommendation, sorry.

This is something that has been asked for since I have been using Spotify. This is something quite a lot of software developers are starting to implement, and I can't believe Spotify wouldn't be one to get in on this!

bump & vote!

This is a must for Spotify..!

I will not rest until this is added. It is essential for a music player to use other audio outputs, and honestly, the only flaw I can see with spotify. Everything else is almost perfect, but I do not understand how this basic feature was removed.

Hello,

I must apologise - I didn't know this idea hadn't had a status change yet. I've corrected that now, and it's certainly on our radar.
