[Mobile] Voice Control

Think it would be a great help to introduce a voice control for the app version.

Doesn't really need to be anything too extravagant just commands like 'Skip Track' or 'Pause/Play' etc.

Would be really useful on car journey's for instance!

My Question or Issue

When I used the Amazon music player, I could control with my voice in the in built assistant.

When I drive, I did the same.

With Spotify is there any way to use voice control?  If I use Google assistant, it switches to Spotify and then I need to switch back manually.  That defeats the whole purpose.

How do you use voice control.  Help

I was a lot safer being able to talk to search than I am having to type out part of the artist to show it up.. I miss the voice feature but the car thing is a waste of money when it was already able to be done. Don't force people to get that stupid thing to be able to use voice. Thanks

Hey, Spotify was on mobile then on Car Thing and removed for mobile. Can we add it back? It's nice to just ask since Google doesn't open and prefers YouTube Music.

I think that it would be amazing if instead of walking over to your device and pressing pause or skip, you could just tell a "siri-like" assistant. This could be built into DJ. I know a lot of people would benefit because if you are somewhere away from your phone but are still listening off of a speaker, but want to change the song, I would love to just say, "DJ, skip!" and the next song would play.

I don't just want this for my car but for my phone and especially laptop when using a Bluetooth speaker. The speaker may be nearby but not the device, meaning that I have to go to the device and manually change the track or pause it. If there was voice activation I could change or pause the track without having to move! 😋

Many times while driving I hear a song that I want to share with friends by sending them the link via message app.  Currently, one has to look at phone, click the share link, and either copy the link and then use messaging to send link or perhaps the friend is listed as a recent contact to pick and send link.

It would be great to have a voice command to copy link and send it .  like " share song link with ...."

I would like to propose the integration of a built-in voice assistant within the Spotify app to enhance accessibility and improve the overall user experience. Implementing a wake word, such as "Hello Spotify," would allow users to control music playback hands-free, making navigation more seamless and intuitive.

With this feature, users could issue voice commands such as:

  • "Hello Spotify, play ‘Timeless’ by The Weeknd."
  • "Hello Spotify, skip to the next song."
  • "Hello Spotify, rewind 10 seconds."
  • "Hello Spotify, fast forward 10 seconds."

This functionality would be particularly beneficial in scenarios where manual interaction with a device is inconvenient, such as while driving, exercising, or multitasking. By providing a native voice assistant, Spotify could distinguish itself from competitors like Amazon Music and Apple Music, which leverage Alexa and Siri for voice commands.

Integrating this feature would not only improve accessibility but also attract a broader audience, reinforcing Spotify’s position as a leading and user-centric music streaming platform. I believe this enhancement would significantly contribute to user satisfaction and engagement.

I Think you should add a AI bot or a AI that listen or activate like google's AI.

  • Your AI should have capability like changing music or play, pause or manage the album or your favorite songs
  • This should be helpful for truck drivers or late night listners.
  • This AI will only available to premium user.
