Music comments

Now I hate to use another music platform as an example, but Soundcloud has a feature that allows you to see comments on a song. Why do want this on Spotify? In my personal opinion I think that comments are something that is just nice to see because I like seeing what other peoples thoughts are on a song. Allowing comments would allow a user to see the general public reaction to a song. Example: I like this song, I'm debating whether or not to show it to someone. I check the comments to see what other people have to say about it, if the comments are positive I'm more to likely to listen to the song and share it to others

Cons: Negative feedback and bad spam on certain artists.  fix: block spam, filter certain words, have a message before a user comments saying that you will be banned from commenting if the comment is harsh towards the artist

You could even make a feature that allows the user to turn it on and off if you want to see the comments or not. Like a hide comments button

“Hey Spotify, I have a suggestion that could add great value to the user experience. Have you considered adding a dedicated comments section for songs within the app, with the addition of “Like” and “Dislike” buttons? Listeners can write their opinions about a song or album, whether it’s about how they feel about the lyrics, how the song fits their mood, or even specific memories associated with the song.

“Like” and “Dislike” buttons could help improve listener engagement with their favorite songs, allowing users to easily express their opinion. For example, “Like” and “Dislike” buttons could be used not only to rate a song in general, but also to better understand what listeners like, which could help improve future recommendations.

Additionally, the ability to sort comments based on the most liked could be added, so that the most engaged comments would be shown to those who want to see the most prominent opinions. This feature would make the listening experience more interactive, while creating a more connected music community.”

Many users currently turn to platforms like YouTube to share their thoughts on specific songs or albums through the comments, and by integrating a similar feature directly within Spotify, the platform could foster a stronger sense of community among listeners and encourage deeper engagement. A comment section would not only increase user interaction and extend the time spent within the app, but also align with industry trends that emphasize social features in music platforms. I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether this idea resonates with Spotify’s vision for enhancing the overall user experience.

I think it would be great/ funny to have comment sections for both songs and podcasts! I know it would be a lot to do but I think I would be good. You could easily filter out all the bad comments too

Dear Spotify,

I truly enjoy using your platform, especially the recent music video update—fantastic addition! However, one feature I really miss is the ability to engage with songs beyond just listening. It would be great to have a comment section, similar to what Apple Music offers, or even integration with professional reviews from sources like Rolling Stone.

Having a space for discussion or curated reviews would add depth to the listening experience and help users connect more with the music. I hope you’ll consider this for future updates.

Keep up the great work!

Sincerely,
Ole S. Salvesen

I think it would be cool to add a feature which allows people to leave comments on songs to further build a community around music, because many people end up going to YouTube to leave comments on songs.

I think it would be super useful to have an "add a note to the song" option, especially in the case of collaborative playlists. Like in Pinterest, for example, where you can add notes to your pins and share them with the group.

Spotify should allow comments for songs like they do on their podcasts. I want to read why people love or even hate songs or albums from their favorite musicians.

I believe this would not only increase usage of your app but it would also significantly increase membership retention and new customers

The comments sections are a fantastic optionn on  Joe Rogans podcast and is clearly very popular.

Please, please expand that to all songs and albums. Thanks you.

My idea is to create a tab within the Spotify app where people can post about songs and rate them with stars — something similar to Letterboxd, but for music and integrated within Spotify. This is something that has never been implemented in a music streaming platform and could significantly increase the number of users. Many people go to Twitter (X.com) to comment on music, but if users could comment directly within the app, through an interaction tab, I’m sure it would be something very beneficial.

Imagine being able to share your thoughts on a song, read what others feel about an album, or leave a message on your favorite track. Adding a comment section to Spotify would bring the community closer, enhance music discussions, and create a more interactive listening experience.
