Option to remove DJ from Your Library

I recently tried the new DJ feature and, afterwards, the DJ playlist icon appeared in my Library. I did not pin this feature. I also cannot remove said feature. Why does a one-time use turn into permanent residence?

Why does this still not exist? Spotify never ceases to amaze with their lack of UI thought.

From this recent dialog, I can't tell which side of the discussion they are on. I also keep wondering how many voters prefer "Not to be able to hide/delete/disable the annoying DJ" ?.  What's the harm with choice? What's the vote count? There doesn't need to be a vote after year(s) of unnecessary bickering, anger, and frustration. Choice check a box DO You want to use DJ [Y]  DJ [N] or DJ [ON]  DJ [OFF] It's obviously there to provoke chatting. The users? And nonusers would have nothing to rant about. This would be archived with the red Hart. Spot makes it mandatory to encourage discussion or provide some kickback to a provider.

Has there been any arguments for forcing everyone to use DJ like it or not? I have never seen one.

And here I am fueling the discussion.

I'm fine with DJ if it is an option that can be enabled and disabled at my discretion.  I don't find any value in it personally, especially when the AI tells me what it randomly played the most must be my favorite.  As for where others mentioned disabling it, that never seemed to work for me.  A simple checkbox as a property on the playlist object should be a simple feature for a junior developer on the team.

Exactly what I've been thinking from the first time I made the mistake of opening the DJ Bot Box. I couldn't figure out how to turn it off fast enough, eventually muting the noise while frantically looking for a Off switch.

Others can enjoy it all they want.  No judgment on their tastes, we all have preferences and deserve a off switch. I wonder how many actually like it? Very few, if any, praises in my travels.

Think about how many annoyed people are viewing or participating In several versions of this chat. It must be good for participation statistics. Otherwise, if it were optional, it would not exist or be archived. I wonder how many paying customers Quit over the issue or did not become paying subscribers? I personally know of 6 that didn't subscribe and went to another site. It may have been worth it to Spot to dump fussy customers.

And I'm still wasting time and ink on it.

Translation: "Obviously we could have added this when implementing the DJ feature, but we weren't interested in doing so. We know that no one would bother to use this pos feature if it wasn't forced upon them, so this is how we're rolling it out to justify the usefulness of our brainless project managers.

Love it, Spotify!

Guys I finally found a way to remove DJ from Spotify! You have to be on the desktop version because it involves using a folder, which can only be created on desktop.

1.) Go to your playlists

2.) Create a new folder

3.) Drag the DJ playlist into the new folder. You have to drag and drop as there's no option to just add it to a folder if you simply right click on it.

4.) Then delete the new playlist! It'll ask if you're sure as it will delete all playlists inside the folder. So even though this feels obvious, make sure the DJ folder is the ONLY playlist in there.

Voilà! You're welcome and happy listening all!

Marion15_0-1742395118100.png Nice discovery. Jacsmomo discovered it a couple years back, 2023-08-06 11:10 AM.
It disappears for a while, Then “Surprise, I'm back”. It becomes part of the standard webpage decoration. It should have a warning label not to touch unless you want to live with a loud excited bot yelling in your ear. So far, If you don't wake it up, It will just be a annoying reminder. I've wondered if they have softened his shtick any or given it attitude option buttons. I've decided not to remind it that I'm here and avoiding it.
