[Smart TV] Screensaver on Smart-TV

Hi there!

It would be nice if there was a screensaver available in your app. This seems to be easy improvement and it's been asked multiple times over the years. It appears that community is ignored by the Spotify team despite all the money you make on your users. It's a problem for me not only because of screen burn out on the TV but also pictures on the screen are unneccessary distraction especially for kids while I just would like to listen to the music.

For those of you who missed my earlier post how to play music on your tv without the screen switched on here a repost:

For those of us that want to play music without the tv screen switched on.....I found a solution that works for me!

And maybe for you too.

Before I explain the steps to take,  I want you to know which tv and mobile I have installed, in order to make it work:

- tv set is Samsung smart tv (neo qled) with Spotify app standard installed

- mobile is Samsung S10 (latest Android version) with Spotify app installed.

Maybe the steps below work on other tv sets and mobile brands (IOS and Android) as well, but you have to test it yourself.

The secret is to stream the Spotify app from your mobile to your tv and then manually with your tv remote switch off your screen. Eureka!

Steps I took to make it work:

1) Start your tv

2) Start your mobile

3) Stream your mobile screen to your tv.

On my Samsung mobile, I use the "Smart View" function for this to work

4) If you see your mobile screen on your tv, start the Spotify app on your mobile

5) Select a song or playlist and see if the music is played through your tv speakers or connected speakers.

6) With the tv remote go to Settings and swich off the screen. (with my Samsung: Settings/General/Adaptebility/ Screen off)

Simple yes? Not really and a shame that Spotify support did not find it out themselves in 4 years!

Let me know if it works for you, or that you can't make it work if you have the same set as me.

And if you can't make it work? Switch over to another music program that has a simple button on the main screen: Switch Off Screen...

Hello,

Most of modern TVs dim completely black when input signal gets all black.

Sometimes when listening to music I would not like anything visible on the screen.

Would it be possible to add a feature to Apple TV version of Spotify that would render complitely black screen for example with click of a button? Then again with push of a button on remote, it would return back to normal mode.

So spotify doesn't care anymore about this feature?

It's 2023 mate.

It's such a little feature...

Woops, better hurry and go back to "reimagining" the UI for the 10x time this year.

Avanti avanti avanti!

If you're listening on the Samsung TV app and switch to a different device, the app will show your discover weekly page. If you don't notice and forget to turn off the TV or app, this could lead to burn in. Spotify should take care not to display a static image for an extended period of time on a TV app.

The pictures that are show on the screen are mostly pretty terrible mug shots of the bands. And you can't even see the album cover because it is so tiny. The album cover should definitely be larger and preferably something clean show on the main screen. Even blank black screen would be more aesthetic.
