Stop links from automatically playing

When I listen to a playlist and my friend is sending me a Spotify link, if I open it, my previous playlist is lost and the link start playing.

I want to be able to open the link without affecting my current playlist. I want to decide myself what I want to do with this song - play it right away, maybe add to the current queue or just add to my songs and listen later.

This issue is very annoying, it is described here and supported by tens of other users

i have never been so annoyed with an app feature that i've gone out of my way to google it and find a forum with similarly annoyed people, but here i am 😂 PLEASE help us spotify. we are so tired!!

Bumping this suggestion.

I actively tell my friends to NOT send me links to songs but instead simply provide Artist and song name so that I can look at music they send without obliterating my active playlist/queue. 

Like, seriously? You want me to actively avoid links to songs because it messes up what I'm listening to? How is this intended behavior? How has it been so many years with this absolutely AWFUL behavior still implemented?

I feel that the only reason this issue hasn't exploded with votes/popularity is that they just aren't aware of this ticket.  This is a major interface flaw.

When implementing this, I suggest just bringing the user to the album's page and highlighting the song that was sent.  Then, allow the user to choose how they'd like to listen to it.

Alternatively, add all songs clicked to a designated "discovered via link" playlist, and display that playlist to the user.

This issues has been raised in some form or another many times. I've done some hard work putting together a master post that brings everyone together under a single issue that will hopefully finally get attention from Spotify.

Could we please make it so that the auto-playing links “feature” can be turned off. It is incredibly annoying for someone who is frequently already listening to music when opening links. Thank you!

I WANT THIS FEATURE AS WELL!!

ive been using Spotify since 2009 and this drives me crazy. just open the page without playing the song, its not that hard. make links navigate-to in Spotify not play in Spotify. for God's sake its not like we're asking for something complicated.
