[iOS][Discover] Restore Touch Preview on iOS App

Touch preview removal on last iOS vers. update looks like it hasn't been a great idea. You are on time to restore it, one of the best Spotify features.

Updated on 2019-03-19

Hey!

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea!

This feature was originally removed from the app due to low engagement. There was a statement at the time which you can check out at https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/Touch-Preview-on-iOS-removal/td-p/1857905.

We're keeping this idea as 'Not Right Now', as it's not something we have any immediate plans to add back onto the app.

If we do have any new info to share we'll check back in here with a new status.

Cheers!

Every update removes something but doesnt add anything. Now SoundCloud or even Youtube is better to find something new than Spotify.

We don't have:

  • 3d touch to preview
  • light theme (god this app is almost unusable in the bright sun with this dark theme)
  • unintuitive offline library manager
  • gesture support not in every menu/submenu (I mean why do I have to click almost on everything instead of swiping left to delete from my playlist or history and swiping right to add to desired playlist)
  • no "Delete recent" with one click
  • terrible "downloaded" podcasts support
  • not consistent UI - why there is regular UI and different one (nicer imo) for playlists created by Spotify?

Oh Ive forgot we got playlist that reminds us songs from our teenage years - awesome!!! /s

Bring this back ASAP! Cannot believe Spotify would remove its best feature!

This was honestly the best feature, it made discovering new music so easy! I would love to see this feature to come back ASAP!!!

This feature was gold. No explanation but low engagement? It was not obvious to find but not one person I  introduced it to did not love it. Why removal, what harm did it do just to leve it in there?  Drives me to think that removal makes it harder to discover new music. If undiscovered music - in the sense of artists with smaller audience - gets harder to find and listen to, the artists rotating the top list will get more plays. Most, if not all, top list artists are in contract with the major labels that own and profit from spotify. Might seem like a small share of plays to add from small to big, but who knows the real figures and why would owners not do anything they can to make more money when Spotify is yet to be profitable. Just a thought.

Edit:

Deleated spotify from my iphone -> Synced a friends iphone with version 8.4.8 to iTunes 12.6.2.20 to different OS user (on iMac 10.9.5) -> safety copied apps -> switched to my OS user -> itunes cmd+o and added new users "Mobile Applications" folder with "Spotify 8.4.8.ipa" in it -> connected iphone -> click install Spotify = touching preview ever since.

HOW IS THIS STILL NOT FIXED!!

Spotify, listen to your PAYING customers. This is ridiculous already

For me, this was the single most useful tool for discovering new artists in Spotify. And the only app in which I had used 3D Touch. In other words, you had nailed it!

It’s been a few months since Spotify have really showed me anything new. As a result I’m just listening to the same stuff again and again...i.e. I’m starting to question what I’m paying for. Great work!

This was my favorite feature, it was how I decided what to listen to each day. Please bring this back

Need it back ASAP!!!

Bring back long press preview! I used it all the time.

Some people argue that previewing tracks put a burden on spotify.

However they remain as follows.

To check that, you might have to logout.
