[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

I really hope Spotify is working on supporting HomePod, especially now that HomePod mini has been announced. It would be so nice to natively use Spotify through Siri, because AirPlay is kinda meh. An update on the progress on this would be nice 🙂

I will receive my HomePod Mini next week. Im thinking of switching to Apple Music Family if Spotify will not be working with the HomePod. I'm an Spotify user since many years.

Are there any timelines for this feature? Thanks.

Have been waiting all this time for Spotify implementing Apple Air Play2 which never happened (for whatever reason).

Now I was excited as I thought with Apple opening up to 3rd party streaming apps all will be possible through Spotify connect. And now... there is still no statement from Spotify and it does not seem there will be coming anything anytime soon.

I'll give them time until the end of January. If nothing happens I'll finally make the switch to Apple Music (Have been a Spotify premium user since 2014).

This is beyond ridiculous.

Why is it that when I click 'Like' the number in the box beside it goes down?

And back to topic-It is a real concern that an organisation one pays makes it basically impossible to usefully interact with them and show no sign of taking note of ideas like this. Or maybe I missed something.

I can't think why Spotify think ignoring this and not even briefing their operatives is a good approach. Or maybe I have been unlucky in Chats.

This is clearly my most anticipated feature. I hope that Spotify listen to its user base

HomePod owners are locked in with the device, having to use Apple Music’s poor recommendations!. I know they were already aware of this before purchase, but now that iOS 14 allows to default to other services, this should be an option soon enough.

Considering switching to Apple Music because of this missing feature...

Indeed, it's a pitty this isn't implemented; I love Spotify, it's miles beyond any other music service I've used, including Apple Music in my opinion, but this one missing feature makes me really consider just plain out cancelling my subscription and moving to Apple Music.

The main issue I see is that the HomePod Mini is gonna sell like hot cakes due to the low price and privacy minded stance. More than a few customers will purchase it hoping it will work like a regular smart speaker. That is likely to tarnish Spotify’s image, once they find they are able to use competing services.

Pretty sure we have more than enough votes now.... Can we get some kind of updates @peter ??
