[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

very disappointed.
meanwhile, more and more customers are getting homepod mini and testing 3 months free apple music

Everybody just needs to go on social media, especially Twitter and mention it on there with @Spotify in their message. I've messaged websites like Gizmodo, Lifehacker, The Next Web, The Verge, Engadget, etc. to see if they could reach out to somebody at Spotify directly and it might help to keep doing that so if anybody else wants to, that'd be great.

Good idea @mrsky.

Let's tweet: "How long to Implement Native HomePod Support? @SpotifyCares"

JackHammer

This is becoming almost a joke now. Surely someone has some internal contacts to give them a gentle nudge?

let's post on twitter #SpotifyImplementHomePod

I would but I don't have Twitter or Facebook. I'm sure most people do though. Excellent idea. Be visible.

Interestingly I bluetoothed Spotify to my homepods last night and Siri was able to pause the song when asked.

I have passed the idea and a link to a Guardian journalist but so far had no acknowledgement.

There must be a journalist who is on this board who could do an article, surely. Or someone who knows one.

Any idea of when is this happening?

@fredsocial

If you take Spotify's Apple Watch app with streaming capabilities as a reference: probably another 2 years. Like I said previously, Spotify's focus is more on suing instead of implementing features they were whining about for years.

Any updates from Spotify on this?

Nothing will ever be funnier than Spotify making entire website dedicated to playing victim and then sitting on all available API and integrations for ages, refusing to implement any of the things they have asked for.
