[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Hi... I first commented on this is in October - 28 pages & 2000+ votes later and still no response from Spotify?!!! You obviously don't give a f**k...

I started my 3 month Apple Music trial yesterday and after only a few hours it's really impressive, my HomePod is now at another level! I recommend you all try it - tech moves fast & if Spotify can't be arsed to keep up, then their loss!;-)

I find it ironic that out of all the music services I’ve used, Spotify is, by far, the best. Yet they never upgrade and expand their service to the top peripherals. First Apple watch , now homepod, it drives me crazy

i contacted spotify support yesterday about this mather and the answer was that apple and spotify still have no agreement.  i also asked if they could give us more updates, the guy said that he will send this to the community department

If this has to do with the in-app purchase then you can all forget about it, no agreement will be made.

what spotify support told you does not make sense. No agreement is necessary for this, apple made both the airplay 2 and homepod siri musickit API’s available to all developers, it’s ONLY the developer who has to implement this (obviously under the apple rules but if they’re in the app store, they already respect those rules, so nothing has to change about that), they probably lied to you because spotify is clear that does not care at all about costumers.

This is so disappointing. As it seems, Spotify does not care at all. Apple opened the door. So PLEASE walk through. I´ve already made an Apple Music subscription. If I´ll finally decide to move, I´ll convince ALL my private environment to do so too. Spotify is the better product - so what the **bleep** do you guys fear. Stay as European as you are. Europeans don´t fight wars.

I just bought Homepod Mini, I was using Spotify, then switched to AM, was disappointed with music recommendation, continuous playing, etc. so I switched back to Spotify ... now as I get this homepod kinda thinking about going back to AM as that independent player is way more interesting cool than playing it from my phone as some Bluetooth speaker.

At least the ability to stream using airplay from MacBook would be cool if not native support... but why not implement something that is possible to do...

Bro your really making users vote to have features u know they want. And then when they vote ur not gonna add them. At least just talk and say no. I’m not gonna sit here waiting for a feature everyone wants. You could literally add it super fast and get so many more premium subscriptions because it would be covered by every tech news site and magazine. Ur literally gonna loose subscribers if u don’t do it, but u already lost a lot of them because u won’t answer. Tell us yes or no, if yes how long till it will be out. Imagine treating customers like this, not even answering them.

We are now in the year 2021. Giving no answer or update to a user request that has that many supporters is a poor statement from a company that big.

Spotify what’s up? Give us an update already!
