[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Finally got a reply on this thread from the Spotify community on this thread:

They’ll probably delete my reply in a few seconds 😂

Apple Music is getting better and better. More features due on the mobile app in the next few weeks with the new version coming with iOS 14.5. I'm still glad I made the switch. Maybe one day I'll switch again but I'm good for now. Very happy with the HomePod integration particularly the Audio Handoff when I come into my room.

It's become comical that Spotify is still silent here! There must be something about supporting the HomePod that either scares or angers Spotify; I can't come up with any other reason they won't even acknowledge this threads existence, especially after so publicly complaining about lack of Homepod compatibility upon its launch. It's got to be a directive from very high up to intentionally disregard this reasonable request by their paying customers.

Anyway this is starting to look like a riskier strategy. The Homepod was kind of a niche product but the mini seems to be pretty popular; I know four people now who've purchased at least one and they've all mentioned that it's bizarre that Spotify doesn't work well with it.

I thought the HomePod mini works great with Apple Music and it was disappointing that it does not work so good with Spotify. I was willing to use Apple Music just for HomePod mini. But now that I see that Spotify is not even recognizing this thread and it is ridiculous that a company knows what the customers want and not even willing to make it happen, I am leaving Spotify for Apple Music for good. Horrible company strategy.

Fully agree. Some seriously poor management going on.

I used to be really excited by Spotify when I got my invite 10 years ago. Now it's just another unethical profit-thirsty corporation.

Apple allows this to work. Spotify doesn‘t care. That is the problem.
Ignoring this feature request further on will bring me to cancel my Spotify subscription and changing to Apple Music.
For me there has never been a reason to do so, but now there is.

WhyDontYouDoIt

I absolutely agree with everyone here.

It has passed quite some time and still zero response from a company that could easily implement this feature.

HomePodOS is currently sitting at 14.4.

I’m as well considering moving away from spotify because this is a serious annoyance.
I still hope Spotify will implement this feature though...

Off topic to some extent but related, if you are considering a stereo pair, and a stereo pair sounds much better to my ears than a single speaker, better be quick.
