[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

iv1z_5-a3ysvp When did they say that?

That's it.  Spotify Premium Family Subscription. GONE.

I'm entirely disappointed. I was with Apple Music for years (a die-hard Apple fan) and switched 6 months ago to Spotify. Now Spotify can go jump in a lake because they are useless at responding to our requests:

Apple M1 Support

HomePod Support

BTW. I mailed Apple Music support and asked them for a re-join coupon and got one to come back.  Apple is more than willing to bring customers back.  Maybe everyone should give it a try and see how Spotify likes being financially "ignored".

This type of disrespect towards customers is disgusting and they should really be called out publically for this nonsense.

Shameful.

ATTENTION ALL. I HAVE AN ANSWER FROM SPOTIFY SUPPORT.

Earlier today, I spoke with Spotify support about the issue. Here are the screenshots.

The support worker told me that homepod integration is "not something that's due to be released in the near future".

Well, there you have it folks.

Spotify has made its position clear.

Time to decide whether you want to move to Apple Music now.

P.S. Spotify admin if you remove this comment I'm going to the media. (I might take this to the media anyway, but removing the comment makes you look far worse than you already do.)

Spotify: We want access to the HomePod. It’s unfair that they lock it to just Apple Music!!

Apple: Alright, sure. It’ll make us not look like a monopoly, so here you go!

Spotify: Wait, that worked? Uhhh… we’re “looking in to it”

Well done.

Since Spotify doesn't want to integrate this feature, I switch to Apple Music. Sorry Spotify, I want to pay for a musical service that works well in my Apple Ecosystem. If you don't want to take this post in consideration, Users will leave to another service... as me... So, Goodbye Spotify!

Chicago_fan

I'm switching to Apple Music as well.

It takes a little getting used to, but it works well overall. Just like Spotify, a few quirks to get used to.

I do wonder how may will take up a trial with their Mini and never come
back. Spotify is a very wealthy company and I presume run by very bright
people, so I would be fascinated to know why they are risking this. I would
be very surprised if this forum were not the tip of a silent iceberg.
