[iOS] Landscape mode on iPhone

Hello folks!

Since we just released "Landscape Mode on Android" and we marked the idea as "implemented", we wanted it to be fair with iPhone users (half of the comments were supporting Android half iPhone) so we have created this idea just for you iPhone users!

We have also added half of the kudos to be entirely fair.

Give it some kudos if you want to see this implemented.

This is the absolute most annoing thing about Spotify for me right now -its almost useless for incar use.

Make it HIGH PRIORITY.

How many votes are needed before the app is adapted for the iPhone? Why did you only make it for Android in the first place??? 

Looking forward to a swift adaptation of the iPhone app.

Just got a bigger iPhone and some googling has led me here. Can't believe that landscape mode has been getting requested and discussed for YEARS. Yet here we are in 2017 and it's still not available. 

I understand there are other development priorities sure, but can't someone just have a bit of a play around with the GUI and make it do it? Even my home screen can rotate now.

 Doing a bit of google work, I found what is likely the answer.  This may also be the reason that nobody from Spotify will respond.

The issue is that Apple is being a punk and fearing that a Spotify app that has landscape mode will interfere with Apple Music.  The reason?  Apple Music does not have landscape mode!!!! (iPhone 7 on iOS 10.2.1) Are you kidding me?

Bafmin, I read that link but it seems more about payment method.  It's a bit of a stretch to conclude that the reason for not implementing landscape mode is specifically because of this.  If it's true, why wouldn't Spotify come out and say it and deflect the criticism towards Apple instead?

Also read the article which sparked me to look at both Apple Music as well as Pandora. Neither has the landscape option, so the premise that Apple is blocking it IS possible, but if that were the case, I would expect Spotify to be transparent about what the problem really is.

I also find Spotify's lack of repsonse here iritating.  And this works on the Ipad which is also IOS.  So very strage that it would work on one and not the other.   I think Spotify need to bo vocal about the status before they start loosing customers.

This cannot be hard to implement! Get on with it allready! I have been a user of Spotify for as long as I can remember, this lacking feature in Spotify has me really annoyed (when you mount the iPhone in carholder (which is in landscape), Spotify isn't very usable). Lets just say, its easier to make an app fit the car then car to an app. To information: I will start to look elsewere now, and its to bad that apple music neither has this option. But maybe they will fix it faster with a request.

rvs007, The main issues is that the direct payment method Spotify offers violates Apple's TOS for an app.  This causes the relationship with Apple to be stressed.  To that end, Apple has the discretion to reject the app for ANY reason.  Technically Apple can reject an app for any reason it wants and has no obligation to disclose the exact reason.

Since, as it has been pointed out by shaferz, neither Apple Music nor Pandora provides landscape mode. There seems to be a conclusion that Apple is directly preventing this feature for whatever reason.  As a mobile developer, I can assure everyone that landscape mode is not difficult to build.

I stand by my first thought that Apple is being a bully and refusing to allow Spotify, who remains quite to keep its relationship with Apple as positive as possible, from adding landscape to its app.
