App crashing for iOS free users when trying to connect to Bluetooth

We've received reports that iOS users of free accounts are experiencing app crashing when they try to connect their device to their AirPods via Bluetooth.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

We're happy to announce that this should now be fixed for everyone - just make sure you're running the latest version of Spotify.

If you're still having trouble, you can post a new thread in the relevant Help board here.

Cheers 🤘

My Issue

Since 4 Days after the Update to 8.8.50, the App will crash when it's running in the background. I tried to reinstall and several device reboots, same issue. The Space should not be the problem, there are more the 70 GB free space. Is this maybe a known issue?

Same issue. It’ll play if I just hit the play button (pic 1), but if I actually pull up the player view, it instantly crashes (pic 2 - crashed one second after I took the screenshot). Not an issue with music. Issue with all podcasts I’ve tried to play.

Same problem, iPhone XS with iOS 15.1. Began with update to 8.8.50. Support says they won't troubleshoot until upgrading to iOS 16.5.1, which I'm not doing with this phone.
It worked previous to upgrade, guess I'm downgrading and turning auto-updates off...

How exactly can you downgrade on iOS?
