Audio quality / Sound volume issues on Playstation 5 App

Hey folks!

We're aware of volume issues with the Spotify app on PS5 after a recent update, mainly that the volume output is too low. This is currently being investigated.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your patience and input so far.

We're setting this issue to Not Right Now as we're unable to provide an exact timeline for a fix at this moment. However, rest assured this will remain on our internal teams' radar and we'll check back in here with a new status when we have any new information to share.

In the meantime, make sure to always keep the app up to date.

Take care.

Agreed. To say the development team here is utterly useless is a vast
understatement and a blatant insult to the word 'useless'

The kicker is that now having come off Premium, the ads, including the song samples, will play as loud as the Dual Sense allows on max volume whilst the actual tracks are still normalized right down. The Apple Music app does not have this issue.

Is this issue just not going to be addressed?? Been going on since 2021!

There was an update today for Spotify and I feel like the volume/sound quality sounds better but someone else will have to confirm if it's actually fixed or not

@Hockeydude95 I just switched from listening through bluetooth on my speakers to the PS5 app and the volume was way quieter still. I have to add 10 steps to volume to reach the same level it was before, which in turn makes the game sound too loud, which of course I can adjust, but still. Can't comment on the sound quality as I never noticed a difference there, at least not as jarring as the volume diff.

My Question or Issue

The issue I'm having is that I have a high fidelity audio system, and while audio quality is good using Spotify Connect through my Sony STR-DN1080 receiver, the Spotify apps on my Roku TV and PS5 don't deliver high fidelity audio. It sounds more compressed, and definitely has low pass/high pass filters and dynamic range compression on the audio. This isn't an issue with either device, as I've ensured both are delivering passthrough bitstreams to the receiver and have no trouble playing full dynamic range and high resolution audio from other apps on both devices.

Spotify should provide audio quality options on their platform apps, serve the highest resolution audio to them, and ensure that no bandpass filters or dynamic range compression is applied.

I assume there's still no interest in fixing this glaring, fundamental and long-standing issue? Nice one Spotify; really earning my subscription fee, here. I wonder if your competitors are as blasé about user feedback?

So this probably will not be fixed, yay

Hello **bleep** of Spotify. It's been a **bleep**ing year now. Just remove the PS5 version and let us use the PS4 version, you absolute braindead idiots.

From now on, I'm going to come to this thread daily and send this same message. Apologies to everybodies email notifications here, but Spotify is stealing your money by not providing you equal service amongst all devices and it's absolute**bleep**. I encourage every member in this thread to join me in posting on this thread daily, until the dev team uses their single collective braincell to outsource this job to somebody who actually knows what the **bleep** they are doing.

I'm afraid the PS4 version is also busted, and always has been 😞 Distorted
sound, really unpleasant to listen to, been like that for years, and
Spotify absolutely couldn't give less of a shtt. But please, do go ahead
and increase my monthly fees again — thanks Spotify.
