Black Screen in Now Playing View on iPad (v9.0.90)

Hey folks,

Some of you with iPads running the app version 9.0.90 may encounter a black screen when you tap the Now Playing View (bar or cover art). The app becomes unresponsive, blocking access to features like lyrics, queue, repeat, and shuffle.

Your track may keep playing despite the black screen. Closing and reopening the app can temporarily fix the issue while this is being looked into.

My Question or Issue

When trying to open a song in full screen, the screen goes black. The buttons underneath are functional if you know where they are, but nothing is visible. 
Ever since this problem started happening, the sleep timer no longer works. To even access the sleep timer i have to vaguely stumble around in the black screen til i find the queue button and then access the sleep timer button, but while it gives me a confirmation that it has been enabled, it doesn’t actually work. For the second night in a row music has been playing all night. I tested it with a short timer as well, it doesn’t work at all.

I tried reinstalling the app and also restarting my device, nothing fixes it. The app had an update recently.

my ipad is also doing this! when i click on the song to make it full screen it just turns black but the app in general is also just really slow. playlists and songs won’t load or when they do, it takes minutes for it to. spotify on my phone works just fine and my wifi connection is great so i don’t know what the issue is. i deleted the app and redownloaded it too but the issue is still occurring.

- delete and reinstall app

- switch off/on device

- clear app cache

its either a hack or coding problem with Spotify programmers

Same here! It was just annoying at first but I use a white noise audio on Spotify to sleep, and I always make sure to loop it so it doesn’t play random things that might wake me up, but I can’t with the screen going black like this. It makes part of the app unusable 💀

Note, I figured out how to get it to repeat without having to directly click on it, but the issue is still pretty frustrating. I hope it gets fixed soon
