[Desktop] Home page not loading

We've received reports that the Home page on the desktop app and Web Player doesn't load and instead displays the following error: "Something went wrong. Search for something else?"

This seems to occur only with the "All" section of the Home page - switching to "Music" or “Podcast” for example works properly.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

We believe this should now be fixed for everyone. In case you're still having trouble, try the following troubleshooting:

  • restart the app and/or your device
  • try logging out and signing back in
  • perform a clean reinstall of the app

Should you need assistance with anything else, you can post a new thread in the relevant help board here.

Take care.

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing a persistent issue with the Spotify Desktop app on my Mac. The center of the screen shows the error message "Something went wrong. Want to try another search?" (Algo deu errado. Quer fazer outra busca?).

The strange thing is that my sidebar (Library), playlists, and top category buttons load perfectly fine. The issue is strictly with the main search rendering and home content section.

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps, but none of them worked:
  • Clean Reinstallation: Completely uninstalled Spotify, cleared out all files from ~/Library/Application Support/Spotify and ~/Library/Preferences/com.spotify.client.plist, and downloaded the latest version directly from the official Spotify website.
  • Cache Clearance: Cleared the application cache from the ~/Library/Caches/com.spotify.client folder.
  • DNS Flush: Flushed the macOS DNS cache using the Terminal command (sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder).
  • DNS Change: Switched my Mac's network DNS settings to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
  • App Reset: Used the built-in "Reset app data" option via the Help menu.
  • Proxy Settings: Ensured that proxy settings within Spotify are set to "No Proxy".
  • Hardware Acceleration: Toggled off hardware acceleration to check for UI rendering bugs.
  • Account Check: Verified that explicit content is allowed in my settings.

Since all standard local troubleshooting has failed, it feels like a server-side bug or an interface rendering glitch. Any help from the staff or community would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I'm having a similar issue, although I'm not getting that exact error message, and it's occurring throughout Spotify. I can confirm this occurs in both the web player and desktop app for me. In my case, there's just a lot of missing content where images should be.

This is the announcement currently at the top of the homepage:

I'm getting some rows of content that display images and some that don't:

Album artwork is also having problems loading:

I kind of have the same issue, but this is in my car. The Home or Latest page doesn't work. If I login with someone elses accounts in my car it works. If I login to another car I still have these Issues.

With that said it seems to be an issue on the server-side.

I've also been experiencing my home page on the mac desktop app not working and showing this error code. The other issue, more pertinent, that was occurring for me was that, when I opened the app, the window opened, but remained empty with a solid gray color there but no buttons or sections available. I was unable to switch a song playing on my iPhone to "play on this computer" as well, but other songs started fine. Another thing I noticed when it would load on my desktop is that the "My Library" playlist was not giving me the categorization of genres to choose to sort all the songs from; that was a bummer.

I tried putting the application in the trash bin, emptied it, and redownloaded it, cleared the storage cache on the application in settings, and all of that didn't change anything. At least for right now the web browser app is working okay with switching a song from phone to web browser. Besides that I'm going to redownload spotify for desktop on my mac later. Hope this helps. Thx for fixing it in advance. (macOS Tahoe 26.5.1)

Hello,

We're aware of this issue affecting the All tab on Home in the desktop app and Web Player. Other tabs like Music and Podcasts should still work. PayByPlate MA

Mine won't even load the tabs to show Music and Podcasts, though
