[Mobile] Downloaded playlists do not load without an internet connection

Hey folks!

We’ve received multiple reports that Android and iOS users are unable to play downloaded content while using offline mode. You might get stuck on a loading screen or get an error message saying "Something went wrong. Try again?".
This is being looked into.

Hey folks!

Looks like this issue is resolved for everyone so we're marking this OI as Fixed.
For any new questions please open a new thread in the Help Boards.
Cheers!

When it breaks, aeroplane mode makes no difference. Turning offline mode on/off doesn't either. It is broken constantly until you get an internet connection. I've tried aeroplane mode, offline mode, and messing around with WiFi and mobile network settings. It refuses to load until you get an internet connection

Spotify has been aware of this since November and this whole thread feels weirdly ignorant. Requesting the users have family sign into their accounts? Pay these users if you're going to make them your beta testers for a product they're paying you for.

My job requires offline activity most of the week, which means I can no longer use Spotify. I can not modify my playlists offline anymore, despite always having that capability. Something is broken on your end, not on the users.

If you need offline music management, Spotify is the wrong service right now.

Hello @AlejaR,

I have the Spotify Version 8.9.14.543 on Android 14 and i've done the reinstall Spotify and i've the same Problem than before and the Problem is in big and in very small playlists.

I'm also every day between 6 and 8 times connected with the internet and not 30 days without an Internet connection.

Is there a solution now??? Because going through this i saw that a lot of people have this problem. Will spotify do anything about this? Is there like a tech support that we can contact? Because the normal support can only tell you to reinstall the app even though i told them 5 times that i have reinstalled the app 3 times already. If this doesn't help they can just tell you how to transfer your data to another account. If that's the only solution I will switch to another service not to another account. I'm tired of these problems that Spotify doesn't **bleep** about! Other platforms like Apple Music don't seem to have problems like this! I've had enough of Spotify not working how it should and then contacting support for them to tell me to turn my phone off and on again and then being left in uncertanity with the main function that the app is promising not working!

Hey folks,

Thanks for your replies and for the info shared.

We really appreciate the time you took to send us all this important info. In this case, we'll need the following:

  • Exact make/model and OS of the affected device.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running.
  • Is this happening on downloaded playlists? Albums? Both?
  • The link to the playlist/album. You can send us the link by following these steps.
  • Roughly how many downloaded playlists/albums do you have?
  • All the troubleshooting steps you've followed so far.

If you already sent us some of the info, make sure to reply with the remaining details. That way, we can forward this important info to the right team.

We'll be on the lookout!

iPhone SE with iOS 17.3.1

Spotify 8.9.16.556

Happens to albums, playlists and singles (all downloads)

I have about 6 playlist and roughly 150 albums downloaded i guess

I've done basically everything that I can:

  • Reinstalling the app three times (both clean reinstall like they tell you to do and normal)
  • logged in and out
  • updated phone and app
  • cleared cache multiple times
  • removed all downloads
  • tried setting the download quality to low
  • removed and added the other devices that were logged into my account
  • tested my account on other devices
  • tested other accounts on my device

I hope its understandable that I'm slowly getting kind of frustrated after trying ALL these steps and still nothing works... I just expect the app to work how it promises!!!

Spotify version: 8.9.14.543

Android 13

Honor 90

It happens to playlists and albums that are downloaded. It just buffers infinitely and eventually gives a "something went wrong" message. I linked a video in my other response. It seems random what playlists are affected, but this one https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4WVNDqJLCav00JIzTkkbz8?si=7O5WF7eSQHG7FTwyeRBDxQ has been consistent broken everytime and it is downloaded

I've done everything that the Spotify support team usually say to every single issue just to get ahead of the useless replies. I listed them in my original response (clean reinstall etc)

I really hopes this gets fixed. What's the point in paying if the service isn't providing? Hopefully a financial incentive will actually make Spotify care about issues for once

i have the same problem.

do something spotify.

- Android 14 (One UI 6.0), Samsung S21 FE

- Spotify 8.9.16.593

- Both albums and playlists

- A link would not help; all playlists and albums are affected

- The problem was there when I had ~30-40 playlists/albums downloaded. It is still there when I have 3 playlists/albums downloaded (I have less now because I switched to Tidal)

- All my troubleshooting steps can be found in the main post. I've changed to a different Android device (where no problem exists), did a clean reinstall, tried a test account (issue is still there). Nothing worked. I have contacted your 'support' about 5 or 6 times without any solution.

I have the same problem

I tried two different troubleshooting steps:

  • Cleared cache and data for the app before reinstalling it.
  • Updated Android.

Neither worked.
