Some users unable to log in on iOS devices

We're seeing some reports from iOS users saying they get the error message "Something went wrong. Try again." when trying to log in with email/username + password, despite entering the correct credentials.

Thanks for your patience while we investigated this issue.

 

We're happy to announce that this should now be fixed!

 

If you're still having issues, try the following troubleshooting to see if that does the trick:

  • Use another Wi-Fi network. You can ask a friend or a relative to create a mobile hotspot for you.
  • Try with cellular data instead.
  • Try logging in without a password or using another login method (if available) such as Apple, Google or Facebook.
  • Perform a clean reinstall of the app.

My Question or Issue

I am unable to sign onto the iPhone spotify app but CAN sign onto 

iPhone web

Macbook web

Macbook app

 

So my credentials work (I use a password keeper so I'm not manually typing the wrong password/username).

 

I have followed the forum articles on "clean install" except for clearing the app's cache as I can't sign on to be able to do that.

 

I have tried to sign on with another user credentials of a user that is part of the family group and does not work (the user can access their own iPhone app so again, not an issue with credentials)

 

I have changed my username (subsequently log in works on iPhone web, Mac web and Mac app but not iPhone app), and changed password (exactly the same outcome).

 

The only message on the iPhone app is "Something went wrong. Try again".

 

I do not get an email if I try the "sign on without password" route.

 

Any help much appreciated as the error message is not helpful and deleting the app and restarting the iPhone (i.e. switch it off and on!!) isn't working.

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

 

Have you tried using another Wi-Fi network to see if you'd be able to log in then? You can ask a friend or a relative to create a mobile hotspot for you to connect to. It's also worth testing with cellular data - just make sure you've allowed the Spotify app to access it.

 

As for not receiving a verification code when trying the password-less login, I'd recommend testing again by using another browser or a different device. If the issue persists and you still aren't getting emails, check if the Spotify domain no-reply@spotify.com is under "Blocked senders" in your mail app. If it is, make sure to remove it and instead add it in the safe senders and domains list.

Changing wifi doesn't work and I also tried data network, again no luck.  **bleep** is not being filtered in my emails and I'm getting the other spotify login emails.  

It seems to be just the iPhone using the mobile app that is the issue as I can sign onto the web app fine with the same credendtials which don't work using the mobile app.

A little more information to help:  I can sign onto the Spotify Kids app on the same iPhone / WiFi / user credentials as the ones not working on the Spotify app.  ‼️

I can’t log into my Spotify account. It was working this morning and I went to listen to music a minute ago and I was logged out and can’t log back in. I can listen to music on my account on Spotify.com but not in the app

this is happening to me too. earlier today i was listening to music perfectly fine and the later recently tried logging on into my Spotify account on my Oculus and it said my password was wrong, so i went into my "passwords" app on my phone to get the right password (i log into my main every day with the saved password so im not used to manually typing it.) i try that password on my oculus and it says that it is still wrong so i go on my spotify app on my phone and suddenly im logged out and cant log back in. i have tried many times to log in using my correct password and other passwords just to try and log in.

This is genuinely very frustrating.

I've tried every option, networks, devices, web, different accounts, deleting and reinstalling

Everything works except the combination of my main account, and the app. Create a new account and app logs in fine, just not the account I want logged in

I even changed my spotify email address to be my appleID email, that still led to the same error when trying to log in via Apple

This is on a clean restored iPhone SE 2nd Gen

I signed up for the free trail and have to say it is very frustrating not being able to log into the iOS app. I changed my password 3 times now. If this isn't fixed really quick I'm dumping the service.
