Non-car Bluetooth devices displaying in Car View mode

Hey there,

We've seen reports of some Bluetooth connections to other devices displaying Car View. The right team is aware of this.

If you're experiencing this, let us know by adding your +Vote the info requested in the Status Update.

All the best!

Hey folks!

We're aware of individual cases where this still happens and will continue looking into the issue.
We don't have an immediate ETA for a fix, but it's on our radar.

Keep your apps up to date at all times and we'll let you know once there's new info on our end 🙂
Thanks!

Hey there folks,

@Kitsounddev thanks for that info, we've passed it on to our tech teams! No worries, we'll make sure to keep you posted if we have any updates from our end.

@Subhangi this sounds like a different issue than the one described in this Ongoing Issue thread. In this case, we'd recommend taking a look and posting at the relevant Help Boards. We'll be happy to lend a hand there.

Thanks!

Hi all, I was directed here from a question that was answered as a related issue to this. The specific description of my problem, which seems to me to be different from this, is noted below.

  • Bluetooth device make, model, and what it's called in the Connect picker or Car: A Samsung Galaxy S8 Active labeled Samsung Galaxy S8
  • Car dashboard make and model: Toyota Corolla (Base Model, not LE)
  • A description of the issue. E.g. were you pushed to Car View when connecting to earphones? Did you get car view when connecting to your car at all?: Whenever my phone connects to the car by bluetooth, Spotify automatically begins playing. The app is not registering as open on my phone. I need to open the app, pause the music, and close the app to get it to stop, but then when I reconnect to bluetooth later it starts again where it left off. I do not want Spotify to automatically play when my phone bluetooth connects to my car, and I can find no setting to use to stop it. It happens every single time and is infuriating to the point that I am strongly considering uninstalling spotify until the issue is resolved so that I don't have to deal with it.

Updates are appreciated. Thank you!

I use Mi Bluetooth Audio Receiver to play music in my car, how can I set this device to be recognised as the car bluetooth device in order to enable car view automatically?

I've had a pretty exasperating experience with Spotify Support over email.  They keep asking me to provide the vehicle make/model and dashboard make/model for a problem that I'm experiencing with a Bluetooth ADAPTER in my car.  The actual vehicle is IRRELEVANT.

Similar to another user on this thread, I'm using a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the AUX input of my vehicle. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JH4DRXM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My phone successfully connects to this device via Bluetooth, and the device allows me to play music through the car's speakers.  However, this particular device connection doesn't trigger the Car View UI that I would like to have while driving.

I'm willing to look for a different solution, and to buy a different adapter.  The question I keep asking, and the Support team won't answer:  what conditions/criteria is the iOS app software/code evaluating, in order to enable the Car View UI?  Is it a particular Bluetooth protocol?  Profile?  Version?

I think my issue is related to the ongoing problems with Car View, but different in a way.  I'm in my house with my wireless headset connected to my phone and when I open Spotify, the Car View automatically starts and music automatically begins to play.  Even when I go tto settings and turn the options under Car View off, this behavior still occurs.  I know others are having issues with Car View launching for other bluetooth devices, but my issue is it's still launching even when I have these options turn off under settings.  Anyone else have this problem?

  • Android Version 10
  • Spotify Version 8.5.27.957

Thank you for adding possibility to disable car view. Now please also add possibility to disable car-auto-play or solve issue that some (all?) bluetooth speakers / headphones are being recognized as a car.

iPhone 8 plus, iOS 13.1.13, Spotify 8.5.27, bluetooth headphones Intezze Piko

It's a Bose QuietControl 30, having a randomized name (I can set it myself), currently LE-Nightshade or Nightshade

  • Car dashboard make and model

The problem is my headphone is identified as a car. I mostly borrow cars, which means it differs. (Mostly a Volvo xc70 that I don't currently have access to though)

  • A description of the issue. E.g. were you pushed to Car View when connecting to earphones? Did you get car view when connecting to your car at all?

My headphone puts spotify in car view on Android, even when I'm out walking or on the train. However, like the car view when driving.

    • I am not pushed to Car View when connecting to this device which I use in my older car that does not have a built-in bluetooth stereo. This device plugs in to the audio stereo jack of the radio and is then paired with the phone over bluetooth. Device gets power by power cable from device to car cigarette/power outlet and powers up at car start.
    • At a minimum, it would be nice, in addition to the automatic configuration to car mode of certain devices, to be able to customize and specify in the Spotify app which devices I wish to have display in car mode, and those that I do not want to display in car mode.
