Smart Shuffle keeps turning itself on

Hey folks!

Some of you have reported that Smart Shuffle is automatically turning itself on again after being switched off. This is now being looked into.

Note: The Smart Shuffle feature works on a playlist-by-playlist basis. If you turn it off on one playlist, it doesn't mean that it is turned off for all playlists.

Hey folks,

Just a heads-up that you can now toggle whether Smart Shuffle is available on your mobile apps from the app settings!

1. Tap your profile picture at the top.
2. Tap Settings and privacy.
3. Select Playback.
4. Switch Enable all play modes off and you're good to go!

As for this Ongoing Issue thread, our tech folks are doing their best to figure out the root cause of the issue itself.

Having this same frustrating issue. Only want to listen to the Playlist I created, not suggested songs, which get shuffled in without me clicking it. Takes several minutes to get Smart Shuffle removed.

This is a post about people who turn OFF smart shuffle and it, without touching anything, is suddenly on again one or two songs later. Smart shuffle doesn't 'want' anything because it's just a computer program, and when I turn it on and it comes back on unprompted, that is indeed unexpected behavior.

And yes I see this happen all the time myself, I turn it off and after one or two songs it is on again. It's a bug.

Can't you just disable Smart Shuffle in Settings? It's worked for me.

My issue is that I turn on shuffle and it turns itself off. Smart shuffle also plays up but the regular shuffle button not staying on is infuriating.

Here, I have a screenrecording of this annoying bug.

You can see I turn smart shuffle off, I go to several next songs and then suddenly you see song title inserted by smart shuffle as you see the logo next to the song title. Then smart shuffle enables itself. You can see mee enabling and disabling it when it shows a  message in a white bar that it has ben disabled succesfully. I disable it again, and some song later it magically is turned on again.

Perhaps now you guys can escalate this after 7 months?

It happens because when I press shuffle on a playlist it loads the previous shuffle list, and also includes the song where smart shuffle started previosuly by accident or by bug. When I reopen the app and press shuffle, it loads the exact same order of songs as previously and when I reach that certain song, smart shuffle turns on. This should be very easy to fix.

I use White Noise while sleeping and cast it on Google Home. The Noise is of 10 hours duration. However, every now and then, Spotify shuffles my playlist and starts playing something else which wakes me up abruptly.

Please get this fixed before I die of insomnia.

When will this finally be fixed? It's getting really anoying not being able to disable smart shuffle. Even on a clean Windows 11 install this is still happening. 

I mean, ping the Spotify server that I click turn off, then sync it with other devices? How much development hours is required for something as simple as that?
