Sonos speakers not showing up on desktop app

Hey everyone,

We've received reports about Sonos speakers not showing up on the desktop app. They only appear in the Connect picker on desktop after selecting the device in the mobile app.

We'd like to take a closer look into this, so we've merged a few threads here to keep you all in the loop.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your inputs and patience so far.

We're setting this issue to Not Right Now as we're unable to provide an exact timeline for a fix at this moment. However, rest assured this will remain on our internal teams' radar and we'll check back in here with a new status if we have any new information to share.

In the meantime, make sure to always keep the app up to date.

Take care.

Windows 11 21H2 Build 22000.527

Dell Precision 5530

Spotify 1.1.80.699.gc3dac750

Neither of my Sonos speakers show in the desktop app. If I open the Sonos app first and start playing the desktop app will recognize the speaker and allow me to continue to play. If I start the Spotify app though it does not see either speaker.

Mobile app is random. Spotify 8.7.8.1206

I'm having the same issue with Sonos. Mac desktop app + iOS. All latest version as of this post. Desktop Spotify App does not recognize Sonos or does so intermittently.

Additional behaviors I noticed:

  • If I initiate playing music through my Spotify iOS app to any Sonos device, the Spotify desktop app "syncs" the song playing, and I can control it normally. It recognizes the Sonos device:
  • Screen Shot 2022-03-13 at 16.42.06.png
  • As soon as I switch from the desktop app to another device, the Sonos device "disappears" from the list of devices in the Desktop app.

Hey @dalillama,

Thank you for reaching to the Community and welcome.

We understand where you're coming from and thanks for sharing your feedback. However, we need the exact versions you're currently running on your device. Could you include in your next response the exact Spotify version and OS version you're currently running in your device?

We'll be on the lookout.

Another data point :

Spotify working fine in the Sonos app.

Sonos not showing on either Mac or iOS app.
What I tried :

- Reinstalling both apps (completely scrubbed any config files on the Mac, but on iOS possibly not : I did delete the app completely but for some reason I didn't need to reauthenticate after reinstalling it)

- Removing/adding the Spotify service in the Sonos app
- Restarting the Sonos speakers.
Nothing worked, until ...

I remembered to try on my iPad. The Sonos were showing up in the Spotify app there, and as soon as I started playing something, it finally showed up in both the Mac and iOS apps.

Since I apparently cannot post. This is also occurring for Google Devices. None of my Google devices populate to case music to.

I have Apple IOS system and Sonos.  Within the past couple of weeks I noticed I can play Spotify from Sonos (although cumbersome) but when I play the Spotify app from my phone and click on the speakers icon, the only current device showing is my Iphone and it doesn't connect to my 3 sonos speakers.  My Sonos version is 14.6.  Airplay doesn't work either whereas it used to.

I have reinstalled the Spotify app, restarted my phone and updated all my speakers in the Sonos app, but nothing has worked.  I am connected to my local network.

On the current device screen, it just spins for other devices.

MacOS Monterrey- My Sonos speakers were showing fine until two days ago. I reinstalled Spotify and I am up to date with the Sonos app. Not showing on my phone either. But I can play Spotify from the Sonos app.

Hi - is there any update from the engineering team? Phone app works fine, desktop remains broken.

I'm seeing the same behavior described above: can play from my phone (iOS) to sonos. Laptop (Windows 10, up to date) will NOT show sonos. If I start playing from the iPhone, then Spotify Desktop syncs and I can then take over from the desktop.

Spotify version 1.1.88.612.gcc529952

Sonos says it's fully updated.

I have done all of the suggested/official steps: uninstall, delete caches, install from MS App Store etc...

Hey folks,

Thanks for your messages.

The right teams are still investigating this, but we can't commit to a specific timeline for this to be fixed.

For now, we'd suggest keeping your Sonos speakers and Spotify app up to date so that you don't miss out on any developments.

Cheers.
