Spotify app is skipping after a few seconds on Samsung TVs

We've received reports that the Spotify app is skipping after a few seconds, with multiple mentions of Samsung TVs.  The reports note that tracks are playing without audio on the Samsung TV devices, and trouble-shooting has already been tried.

Thank you for reporting this to us. An issue has been identified regarding skipping on Samsung TVs. The right folks are looking into this and working on a solution.

 

We're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Samsung TV's firmware and also the Spotify app up to date. This way you will ensure you're on the latest version and will receive the fix as soon as it's out.

 

For anyone experiencing this with a different TV brand, make sure to share your details in this thread.

I had the same problem, no sound and endless skipping of playlist on my android tv app. I solved it in my setup and i believe this post is the solution, because i can toggle the error. It's a home network problem. My setup: I have an internet fiber modem/router and behind it a TPlink deco mesh system. This runs in Router mode (default for many devices). Several android/web instances of spotify are running on this mesh network. When changing the Deco system to Acces Point mode (thus expanding the network from the fibermodem/router) the problem dissapeared instantly. Switching back to router mode initiated the problem again. What also worked was connecting the TV with wifi of utp cable to the Deco system when in router mode.

 

Multiple spotify instances on the same network are communicating with eachother when running from the same internet ip adress. The problem occurs when a spotify device on layer 2 (which is able to connect to layer 1) but the spotify device on layer 1 cannot connect to layer 2 due to the inaccessable router settings when in router mode -> ERROR! skipping fail etc initiated.

 

The setup when NOT working: (Android TV directly is the ISP modem)

SOLUTION:

Basically all registered devices (including the (android) TV) must be on the same network AND in the same ip range.

Still ongoing issue...

Same problem, on my samsung tv the songs are skipping after a few seconds without playing any sound...

The weird thing is if I click "switch to video" it plays everything good!

But not all songs have videos so after a while its annoying because the songs repeat themselves frequently (like 10 out of 50 in the playlist has videos so it plays only the 10 ones that have videos)

 

Please fix this 🥲

Today Samsung support remotely restored my system (not using 'factory reset' from the menu but option available only for support) and Spotify started to work (no skipping tracks, playing with audio). I immediately changed DNS to Google DNS, because I can feel the issue has something to do with DNS server addreess inherited from my provider's modem). Hope the issue won't happen again!

There are some posts referring to sound issues but non of them seems to reflect my problem. 

 

The app works all fine on TV except there is no sound (sic!) and the songs skip after a few seconds to another (maybe the app realises there is playing issue and tries another song?). I've tried restarting reinstalling changing sound modes, resetting TV etc. None worked. 

And here comes the fun part. When I switch from Audio to Video (when available) the app runs perfectly fine it doesn't skip and the sound is ok. When it switches to another song in playlist that doesn't have a video it is silent.

Please help

Recebi minha TV Samsung 4k ontem. Instalei o spotify, contudo, apesar de carregar, o aplicativo não reproduz som e **bleep** as faixas rapidamente, em looping. 

Isso só acontece com a TV conectada na rede wifi. Testei rotear os dados móveis do celular para a TV e o aplicativo funcionou.

Restaurei as configurações da TV mss o problema com o spotify permaneceu.

second day my spotify is not working on my Samsung CU8100. Keeps on skipping without audio. I’m paying for a family plan and this has been a bummer!

Exactly same problem here. It was fine for a couple of months ago, but now it's not working. Scips to next song after 5isj sec, and no sounds when I'm on only audio. 

Videos are with sound
