Unable to change the playback speed of podcasts on desktop

We're receiving reports from users that the podcast playback speed is not changing regardless of the chosen setting and is "stuck" at the last one used. This only seems to be affecting the desktop app and web player.

Exactly the same problem here on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. 
Speed function stopped working on desktop app - won't speed up or slow down.

My mobile and web browser Spotify still work normally.

Same here. Windows 11, Germany, premium.

Mine is stuck on 1 speed, I usually listen at 1.2 and it's definitely slower.

Speed control stuck only on desktop app. Noticed it on audiobook, but also not working on podcasts. Phone works fine. No fix after reloading.

I do not have this issue on web player, mobile app, etc. Only on desktop app.

Nothing works: Restarted computer, uninstalled and reinstalled app, deleted cache and downloads, etc.

Same issue. Desktop app podcast playback speed stuck at last speed used on desktop, even when the speed displayed has been changed (3.5x, 0.5x, doesn't matter: it still plays at 1.5x). Issue not present in mobile app; I'm able to change playback speed as expected. I tried restarting spotify, ending the program, starting a different podcast/playlist; none of these worked. The only thing that worked was completely uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify. This restored the default 1.0x playback speed...which podcasts are now stuck at again. (So basically: reinstalling the app just changed the playback speed that podcasts are now stuck at, rather than fixing the actual issue).

Same issue here. macOS Sonoma 14.4.1, Spotify version 1.2.40.599.g606b7f29

No amount of program restarting fixes the issue. Podcasts play normally in browser (Chrome) Spotify.

Same issue here on PC. Affects the application and the website.  Android mobile app works normally.

Troubleshooting steps tried:

Reload app

Clear Cache

disable hardware acceleration and restart

Reset App data and restart
