Looking at moving from MOG to Spotify (or something else....?), so am currently making use f the gratis Premium account to test things out.
Was hoping that my current receiver (as above), which does DLNA and Airplay/Media Playback/Internet Radio etc would work with Spotify Connect, but nothing shows up in the options on a Nexus4 - all on the same Network etc.
Can anyone give me any clues on how to get this to work??
Thanks.
Spotify doesn't support DLNA.
AirPlay is an Apple technology, so it wouldn't work with your Android phone.
If you had an iOS device you could use AirPlay with the app:

If your phone and your receiver both have bluetooth, you could use that.

Sorry, silly question, perhaps, but in that case, why even HAVE the connect option on an Android device?
Thanks.
For an explanation on what Spotify Connect is, you can read this:

Your iPhone, iPad, or Android device will be able to use Connect to send music to any device connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The device can be a speaker, TV, computer, etc, but it must be compatible with Connect.
These manufacturers offer built-in support in some of their products: Panasonic, Fon, Yamaha, Clint, Nocs, Pioneer, Philips, LG, Argon, Libratone, TP Vision, Sony, Ruark Audio, Bose, NAD, Naim, Amazon, Bluesound, B&O Play, Onkyo, Samsung, Denon, Revo.
Note: It’s not possible to control your connected devices from the desktop app for Mac and Windows, but that functionality is coming soon, according to Spotify. It's also not possible for Connect to play local MP3 files on any device.

Thanks for that, but doesn't really help...
You said originally that it wouldn't work because Android doesn't do Airplay (which I did already know....), and then point me to an article that says it works with Android (which almost suggests that it MUST use DLNA, or perhaps some other method, which I would be interested to know, what?).
So, back to my original question of: will (should) this work with my Pioneer VSX-922 receiver?
Thanks.
Sorry, but Spotify Connect will only work with the Android app if your receiver specifically says that it will work with Spotify Connect. It doesn't look like your receiver supports Spotify Connect. Spotify Connect is different from Bluetooth and AirPlay because it connects directly to Spotify's server using the phone app as a remote. Bluetooth and AirPlay just send the signal from the device, not from the server directly.
Spotify Connect is a new thing that companies are starting to implement into their products within the last year or so.
Receivers and other devices that support Spotify Connect can be found here:

Actually I just found this announcement on the Pioneer website.
You might be able to use Spotify Connect after all

Check to see if there are any firmware updates available for your receiver.

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the reply. Now I understand it a bit better, so may have a chance.
No, there doesn't appear to be a firmware update for my Amp, and, yes, I CAN just use Bluetooth, but I have noticed in another forum that someone has said "It just works", on the same Amp. Will chase that up.
Thanks for the links.
You're welcome.
Awwww man 😞
Hopefully you will figure something out.
Hi - I want the same thing. Did you find out a way to do this yet. To get Spotify into the Amp so spotify sees it as a device. It's crazy the 923 has a firmware update for Spotify but not for the 922.
Maybe spotify can come up with a dongle that plugs into a Network connected device/amp so that the device appears to spoitify as a spotify enabled device like a phone or tablet or pc ...
Nope, still no joy.
Haven't had a reply from the bloke on another forum, who said "it just works", so, fingers crossed....
Still no solution?
Still no solution?
Not as far as I am aware....
Not using Spotify now anyway, they don't seem very responsive to issues....
