Fire TV app turns off after 20 minutes

Fire TV app turns off after 20 minutes

I downloaded an update for the Fire TV app today, and ever since, the Spotify app turns off after 20 mins.

This appears to be because the Fire TV stick doesn't recognise that the Spotify app is running, as it displays stock images/screensaver after 5 minutes, then switches off entirely after 20 minutes. This is what the Fire Stick does when it's not in use while the TV is on, so it's almost like it doesn't "know" the Spotify app is running.

The sound is not affected until the switch-off at 20 mins. This has only happened since the update, so maybe it's something to do with that? The Fire TV app can be a little bit buggy, but nothing like this has happened before.

Le problème semble résolu !! Merci 🙂

Problem is back again for me.

Spotify Version 1.76.1

Lorsque le problème survient il faut s'assurer d'avoir la dernière version. Ce problème semble récurrent, mais disparait en allant actualiser les mises à jour. Sous paramètre / Ma Fire TV /  À propos de /  / Recherche de mises à jour.

When the problem occurs, make sure you have the latest version. This problem seems to be recurrent, but disappears by going to update the updates. Under setting / My Fire TV / About / / Checking for updates.

Still turning off for me 😭😭😭

This is still an issue. Is there no fix yet???

I’m also experiencing it it October. So doesn’t seem anything was fixed 😕

This did not work for me and was the first thing I tried. I don’t know if anyone also experiences this but whenever it turns off it resets my queue, eliminating what I queued up AND bringing back song I have removed from the up naturally generated next list. It’s quite frustrating.

Is there any way to fix this? Seems very high value and pretty simple to fix... why dont they fix it

Still the same problem in October 2023....

Just like an issue back in June of 2023, while playing Spotify playlists on fire Stick or fire TV, the music stops and the fire TV or stick go to sleep. As if the stick or TV do not recognize that the Spotify app is running.

My Question or Issue

Problem continues, but my workaround is to start the music on my iPhone first and then change the listening device to the firetv. Firetv screensaver never comes on, it doesn't power down and Spotify can even be put in dimmed mode. Starting the app directly on firetv and running playlists from there always ends with the screensaver and powering off.

For me it only happens on the Fire Tv but my other non smart tvs that only have firesticks it plays with no issues

This worked for me. Took maybe 5 minutes to install but so far it seems to have stopped the firestick from going to sleep after 20 minutes. Give it a try

Facing the same issue and with the latest firestick 4k, 4k max and 4k wifi 6 edition its really getting on my nerves and its random even on podcasts with video

I am a premium sub and spotify support is nonexistent it seems

Hey! I have found a solution to your problem. When you open Spotify on your TV, play your playlist/music, and then go to the “Search” screen and open the search bar so that the keypad pops up on the TV screen and then boom, your Spotify will continue to play! I believe this is because the TV recognizes the flashing line on the keypad search bar as an active action, and does not turn off.

Almost a year later, I still have this issue. Even upgraded to a newer firestick, same problem
