How do I stop a podcast I don't like from autoplaying?

How do I stop a podcast I don't like from autoplaying?

A podcast I really dislike (I listened to a couple episodes then decided I didn't like it) keeps autoplaying when I'm playing podcasts. I rated it 1 star in hopes that might stop it from autoplaying when I'm listening to podcasts but it keeps coming on and it drives me crazy.

Same problem here! (premium user if it makes a difference)

I listened to this rubbish podcast for 5 min! Now this thing keeps coming back every now and then... To make things worse, I listen to podcasts while driving and obviously can't use my phone to skip an episode.

If the useful option of 'Hide This Song' already exists, why not include options like 'Hide This Podcast' and 'Hide This Episode' too?

Got to agree that this is very annoying.

Listening to a podcast and at the end it decides to give me a completely new one totaly out of context with the one i was listening to.

How hard can this be to fix?

It's not in my mobile app. Random podcasts have been autoplaying and I can't get rid of them. There's no option to delete or dislike.  I'm in the free version.

I'm on paid subscription and the same happens. I hate it too.

It really sucks that after a Podcast you Play some Random other Podcasts instead of the ones im am Following. Not even Things i could be interested in. Last Time Spotify App Plays some Nazi Podcast after my Episode, this is disgusting.

Its also really **bleep**ed Up that you Play commercials even with a Premium Account.

I was searching the web for exactly this, and I'm kind of glad but disapointed to know I'm not alone. At this point I'm starting to believe this is intentional: Spotify will autoplay certain podcasts I don't follow or enjoy, even when there's plenty of episodes in my "Your Episodes" and "New Episodes" playlists. The interesting aspect it's always the same couple obnoxious podcasts that get played, like "the subtle art of not giving **bleep**" which is a particular bad offender. The only conclusion I can think of is Spotify is getting paid to do it. These are likely podcasts running campaings for paid promotion, not unlike promoting posts on social media.

same problem!! my friend and i were doing a spotify jam and she played an episode of “rotten mango” until i told her i couldn’t stand the voice so we switched. now her new episodes WONT STOP SHOWING UP. i’ve hit the “not interested” button on it when i’m in the homepage under the “podcasts” tab but it continues to show up in “shows you might like”

would love an option for “don’t play this podcast” like there is for artists…

Just adding myself to the list. Been paying for Spotify for years, going to looks for another platform.

Good to know that if you happen to lend your phone to a friend and press play to their recommended podcasts, you simply can't get rid of them, never.

Think about it: If your friend requested an annoying song to your queue (as a joke, for example) and it would haunt your automatically generated, suggested playlist and your app's front page for ever, people would go absolutely**bleep** about it.

I've moved on and listen my podcasts from the publisher's official channels like from YouTube.

It didn’t work, I set sleep timer for the end of the episode and auto played to the next podcast with loud commercial and woke me up

This is by far the worst feature on Spotify! I fall asleep every night to podcasts but I wake up frequently to go to the bathroom and it helps me fall back to sleep. The problem is I don’t listen to true crime because I’m pregnant and have been having very vivid dreams but I keep waking up to vivid explanations of murders and deaths with zero interest in that at all. Saying to turn on a sleep timer every time and figure it out yourself is the worst company feedback I’ve ever heard. My husband is a video game developer and said it would be very easy to change the feature to only auto play podcasts you are following or at least play the next episode of the podcast you were originally listening to. They must be making more money from the podcast contributors than the customers to help promote random shitty podcasts, because let’s be real, it all comes down to money. I’ll be listening to podcasts through a different platform moving forward.

This is similar to other topics which have asked for Spotify to add a feature to explicitly block/remove unwanted Podcasts or Shows from recommendations or "Your Shows".

Just because I listened to something once it doesn't mean I love it forever. In fact, maybe some people listen to stuff once to try something new or because they're currently interested, but know they won't ever want it again. This can be the case for political stuff, for erotic/**bleep** stuff, for scientific areas of interest, or any other topic you can think of.

W're adults and know what we want our apps to show or ignore. We're allowed to vote and have children for **bleep**s sake.

We should be able to tell the app we're paying for that it should stop recommending a certain show or topic. That this is a discussion at all (and has been for several years, apparently) blows my mind. I'm absolutely serious when I say that this is a dealbreaker for me and I will switch back to your competitor once my subscription runs out.

The podcast “The Journal” and its affiliated podcasts keep automatically playing. I don’t follow any of these podcasts. Spotify plays the journal before playing the rest of my unlistened podcasts. It’s full of ads, and I don’t appreciate it interrupting my queue. Furthermore, the journal keeps taking up space on my  Home Screen in the Spotify app. I don’t follow this podcast! I hate it! Poor journalism! How do I block this podcasts so it stops playing?

My Question or Issue

Whenever I’ve finished listening to a podcast(I.e. NY Times’ The Daily), it automatically plays something I’ve never listened to and don’t care to (Disturbing True Stories). It won’t play other unlistened to ‘The Daily’ podcasts. It wont play other podcasts that I usually listen to. Is there a button I can toggle that says don’t ever play this? or I am not a fan?
How do I stop being force fed content? Or at least content that is not appealing to me?

I can hide an artist i like, why not a podcast? chuckle sandwich after the monday morning podcast is like washing down a fresh glass of water with **bleep** and thumbtacks

I have the same problem, I see this has been happening for a long time now and nobody did anything about it... Don't you have a UX team to solve these kind of issues? I just keep getting on a on the same podcast, I don't even know why, I don't like it at all and I don't remember choosing it... It's really annoying.

My Question or Issue

I listen to a lot of podcasts - I have at least 6 podcasts that I listen to practically every new episode. I do this while I am otherwise occupied doing other things, but since I have such a long list of podcasts, I generally have a substantial backlog of episodes. This means that there is always an overwhelmingly obvious backlog of episodes that any algorithm could easily pull from. Instead, it constantly plays the same terrible Spotify produced content that I have no interest in. It's stuff that's only barely tangentially related to topics that I actually want to listen to.

Clearly there is a problem in the algorithm that is overly weighting Spotify's content in comparison to other content. This is in all effect, an advertisement for the crappy spotify produced podcasts. An advertisement that I pay $17 a month to avoid. An advertisement that lasts for an hour+ at a time.

It's incredibly frustrating to constantly be forced to stop what I'm doing, take my gloves off and pull my phone out of my pocket to change the podcast when the service has more than enough information to make a suggestion that I would like.

It borders on outright fraud to charge me monthly to remove ads and then serve me ads by another name - I'm honestly not sure which side of the fence it falls on.

Give me the option to blacklist content that I do not want to be suggested and I certainly do not want to autoplay.

I don't care if you've over-invested in podcast production. I do not care if you need to defraud your investors by artificially bolstering impressions of your internally produced content.

Just play the content that I actually want to hear.

Hi, there is a podcast that keep playing in autoplay for me no matter how many times I report I don't like it. I do not follow the podcast or the artist.

How can I block of his podcast from playing at all?

Thanks

Autoplay is not the problem, the problem is Sopotify not allowing us to stop playing something we do not like!

I considering canceling my premium subscription for this. I do not want to listen to another mosh story.
