I have Spotify Premium but I do not have the shuffle option

I have Spotify Premium but I do not have the shuffle option

I have a premium duo membership with my boyfriend. He is the owner and I am the other member. A problem I have noticed is that I do not have the option to automatically shuffle playlists like my partner does, but when I click on a song, then it will allow me the option to shuffle. Either way, it is slightly irritating.

Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out!

Could you let us know on what device the issue occurs on?
What is its OS version and what is you Spotify app version?

There should be a button that enables Shuffle and it's present on desktop, mobile & on the web player.

If you don't mind, you could send us a screenshot of a playlist of yours (you can edit out any info you do not want us to see) and we'll take a look at what might be going on 🙂

I'm having this issue too. For me though on the desktop app there's no option to outright shuffle on the top right side or after a song starts playing. There's a refresh option at the bottom but it doesn't do a good job at even trying to actually shuffle anything.

Hey @Tidy_Cat,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.

Depending on the device you're using, the shuffle button might be located in a different spot. In this case, and if you haven't tried it before, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstallation of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it’s more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might cause trouble.

If the issue persists, would you mind including in your next response the make, model, OS version of your device, and the Spotify version you're currently running, along with some screenshots as requested previously to continue investigating the case.

We'll be on the lookout.

This is happening to me on the newest version of Android for galaxy s23 ultra. It seems to actually shuffle even though it's not lit up. When I press shuffle it says "you've discovered a premium feature" even though I have spotify premium. I have tried clearing cache and restarting app but no luck.

Hey there @Melite

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community!

Could you try logging out and then logging back in to your account twice in a row? This will trigger a sync between your account and device.

If the issue persists afterwards, would you mind sending us a short screen recording of the issue happening so we can take a closer look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

Lastly, sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device would come in handy.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

I am the account owner and have a iPhone 14 and it is working fine.  My son has an iPhone 13 under my account, and he does not have the shuffle play option on the playlist.  He was reinstalled and logged out.  Any ideas?

Hi,

I am currently on a trial for a student premium subscription and have recently transferred my music from Apple Music to Spotify. I plan on keeping this subscription and it will charge me in December.

My playlists do not have a button where I can shuffle the playlist - I currently have to play a song then shuffle the playlist. I've checked through all of my settings, followed the instructions on this page such as deleting and redownloading the app or logging in and out twice. Nothing is working. I'm wondering if it's because I'm on trial and/or if someone can log into my account and manually fix the issue.

My name is Maggie by the way, I also don't know how to change my username.

Hi Maggie,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Does this happen on an iOS device? If so, this is something our tech folks are working on the moment. You'll find more info in this thread.

As for your Community username, you can change it by clicking on your profile icon at the top right corner > My settings > Personal and selecting Username from the dropdown menu. In case you meant your Spotify username, check out this article instead.

Hi Yordan,

Thank you for your feedback!

Yes, I have an iOS device. When do you think this problem will be fixed?

Hey @31muzf3kjrjynjlj2ne4,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Taking this into account, it looks like you're having the issue that's investigated in the thread that @Yordan mentioned earlier. We'd recommend hitting the "Thumbs up" button and subscribing to that thread to be aware of any updates posted there.

We don't currently have an estimated time for a fix, but we hope it will be as soon as possible. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Hope this helps. Take care 🙂

Hi,

I’m having the same problem as well. I am on a premium duo account as the second member, I have an iPhone 14, iOS 17.3, Spotify version 8.9.40 and the shuffle button does not even show for me any where on any playlist. I have tried everything recommended; signing out multiple times, turning off my phone, deleting the app multiple times, and clearing the storage of the app. But this problem seems persistent. Please help.

Hey @pppaigepalmer

Thanks for letting us know about your experience.

We see you've tried the troubleshooting we've suggested by the other mods in this thread. You mentioned that deleting the app did not work, so as a next step we would suggest performing a clean uninstall of the app. It's a much more thorough removal of the apps data from your device and it will help you start completely anew.

Hope this helps out! Keep us posted.
