Is it possible to edit a local mp3 file to include Artist and Album information? I am able to save local files, but the all the info is only inside the Title, and there is nothing in the Artist or Album columns.

Hi @yourname942 and thanks for the extra info! 🙂
On Mac, you can use iTunes to modify your library in more detail and then have Spotify pull local files from your iTunes media music folder.
There is also an external downloadable editor called TriTag for Mac that allows you to edit tags in detail on mp3 files if you want to bypass that option. I have always pulled my own local files through iTunes, so have not looked into it further myself.
Hopefully one or the other can clean up your library for you! 🙂
Hi @yourname942 🙂
You can't edit the local file metadata within the Spotify apps, but you should be able to access this info on the file itself on your computer it's sourcing from.
If you locate the song file>right click and look for "properties" (PC) or "get info" (Mac), a menu should display with modifiable data.
Hopefully this helps - but feel free to reply if you run across any questions.
Have a great day! 🙂
when I right click on the mp3 file > get info, the only options I see are:
1) Add Tags (this is a textfield where I can add tags)
2) General:
3) More Info:
4) Name & Extension:
5) Comments:
6) Open with:
7) Preview:
I am using a Mac. I don't see an area where I can add an artist and albumn name. (unless this is done by adding tags?) Anyone know? Thank you.
