Hey @Marl3yr0s3,
Thanks for your reply.
Currently, there's also an issue with Echo Dot devices here where the music pauses/stops as it did for you last night. A fix for this is being rolled out gradually so if the troubleshooting steps in Joan's thread don't work, simply wait until next week and check again.
Keep us posted.
Hi there @Marl3yr0s3,
Thanks for reaching out. Could you please provide us the following:
With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.
Keep us posted.
@joan It didn't happen again last night but after around 3 hours it glitched and kept playing one song for 3 and a half hours with no sound cause the song was done but kept playing. This is what it looked like btw. Also as soon as I switched back to playing on my phone it went to the next song.
to answer the questions.
1. I'm not sure I only play spotify on my alexa and not the others in the house it did happen on the phone the other night where the music stopped twice, once when I was awake so i pressed play again.
2. i think 1 answered that.
3. it's been happening for i think over a month now but it worked good last night until about 10 hours in like i said above.
4. I'm not sure what you mean by networks.
Hi I commented on the thread about a similar issue to me that may add more information in case I forgot to add it here
It's kinda fixed but after a few hours it went weird but I'm getting help in my own post but to summarise what's happening now.
After a while my music on my alexa went silent but when I went on my spotify app it showed it's still playing the same song on my alexa but instead of the 0:58 (length of the song) it said it was 3:36:42 into the 0:58 song which is impossible and it was just playing silently. Also spotify playing music always shows up in my notifications even if the app isn't open which is annoying since if I turn my phone volume up it changes my alexas volume instead sometimes.
also I think the silent music thing happened before since it said it was still playing but that may be my mind making it up.
Hi @Marl3yr0s3,
Thanks for the additional info. This gives us a much better idea of the behaviour you have.
We're already aware of behaviour likes this and it has been reported. Please check out this thread here and try any of the provided troubleshooting that you haven't gone through yet, they may very well fix it for you. If the issue persists, provide any and all relevant info you have there so that we can keep the discussion all in one place. We're keeping our eye on this and will provide updates when we have them.
Hope this helps.
Hi it's not just it getting stuck on a song though it is also the fact my music will randomly stop as well the song will show as normal. It happened again last night after 34 songs it stopped like a playlist ending would do. I will check out that thread to help in case the song continuing after it's finished happens again though.

I’ve been having the same problem, but I play directly from my phone. Already tried updating/clean installing the app, go through configuration and nothing seems to
work. It’s really annoying cause I have been listening white noises to sleep playlist for ages and never had this problem.
Hi there @alexandredoam,
Thanks for your reply in this thread.
First up, we'd like to get more info. Does this happen only on your phone? If you haven't, check if it happens from another device or the Web Player. Additionally, have you tried any troubleshooting steps? If you haven't, we'd recommend starting with a clean reinstall of the app. You can also try with a different internet connection.
On another note, send over the make/model and OS of the device along with the Spotify version you are currently running.
We'll keep an eye out for your reply!
Hi! I'll try to check on the web player, because I only listen to these long playlists from my phone. I already tried the basic troubleshooting steps, did the clean reinstall and used different connections (either wifi, 5g or offline mode). I use an iPhone mini 13 and the spotify version is 8.9.36.597.
Thank you.
Hey @alexandredoam,
Thanks for all the details!
It would be great if you could give it a shot using the Web Player, or using another device. This could help us narrow down if the issue is related to the account or an specific device.
Also, does this happen with all longer playlists or just with specific ones? And to confirm, are you connected to any headphones or speaker when this occurs?
Keep us posted.
Mine was fixed for like 2 days maximum now its broke again I hope Spotify fixes it soon because it is annoying I hope yours get sorted soon
Hi Maria! I tried from the Web Player in my macbook and it worked fine. I also tried to screen record my iPhone through the night while playing and it didn't pause. But after that, I tried to listen with the screen locked -as usual- and it paused again. I usually listen connected to a bluetooth speaker, but I tried without it and it also didn't work.
Hey there,
Thanks for keeping us in the loop!
@alexandredoam - Just to make sure that we cover all bases, could you check so that Spotify is allowed to run in the background? You should be able to check this in your phone's settings.
It's also worth checking so that Background App Refresh is activated. This can be done from the settings as well. You can also find the exact steps here.
@Marl3yr0s3 - Are you still experiencing issues with your Amazon Alexa? As mentioned previously in the thread, there was recently an issue with playback on Echo devices, but it has since been fixed. If the issue persists, could you check for any updates for the device's software? This can be done through Voice Command.
Let us know how you get on!
Hi Maria, it's all active.
Hi It plays all night now but randomly my music will buffer tho like it goes silent which I don't know why it happens randomly for a few seconds then resumes like normal
Thanks for the replies folks.
Could you check if the issue persists over another Wi-Fi network or cellular data? It's also worth relinking Spotify with Alexa by following the steps in this article.
Cheers 🤘
I did it, also with the whole playlist downloaded, and is still not working.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop @alexandredoam!
Since this only seems to happen on your phone and you've checked those settings, we suspect it might have something to do with the particular device setup and the permissions that the app has to play in the background.
Could you see if the same thing happens with any other apps that are playing on lock screen?
It's also worth checking for any battery saving or 3rd party apps that could be influencing the app's performance.
Cheers!
