Playlist track numbers gone.

Solved!

Playlist track numbers gone.

Previously, there were track numbers to the left of each song in a playlist. Today they are gone and replaced by a musical note. This sucks. Now we have no way to know how many songs are in a playlist. Additionally, when I'm arranging a playlist I like to ensure good distribution of different artists in a playlist by placing a song by a given artist every ten, or twelves songs, or whatever. Now I have no way to do that. Sometimes on a really long playlist I will place songs from a particular artist every hundred tracks. Now that's impossible.

Is there a setting somewhere I can change to get the track numbers back? PLEEEEASE??????

EDIT: The track numbers are only missing from my Christmas playlist. Do I have to take the word Christmas out of the name to get the track numbers back?

Desktop, Web Player version.

I don't question that this was a solution for some folks.

Myself?  I have zero podcasts in any of my playlists.

Yet, the display of row numbers in my various playlists go missing fairly frequently... for no obvious reason... and then eventually return... again for no obvious reason.

After years I finally got frustrated enough to look at the client-side code in my Spotify web player, using the built-in Chrome Developer Tools.

Note: this problem occurs in both my Spotify web player and in my desktop Spotify app.  But I can't easily view the client-side code for the app.

What I discovered is a solution that works for Chrome.  See my detailed posting, currently at the bottom of this thread (on or about March 25, 2024).

Thank you for helping with this issue! Is there a way for me to make the change stay every time I reload or reopen the page?

I'm guessing there is a way, but I have not pursued that.  Whatever the server-side (Spotify-side) source of this problem is, it always eventually resolves itself and I once again begin to see index numbers in my playlist(s)... both in the web player and app.

I haven't tried to keep any records on how long it takes to resolve itself nor have I logged my interactions with Spotify to see if some pattern in my usage is somehow tied to its occurrence.

I'm certain it has often taken days to resolve itself.

P.S. To be fair, I'm certain that the intermittent and capricious nature of this problem makes it hard for Spotify developers to reproduce and isolate.

Same issue, musical notes appear in place of numbers; but only for my largest playlist & only if using the app.  Accessing via a browser or another playlist shows all numbers.  Started about a month ago.
Already tried searching for podcasts (none) uninstalling & reloading the app.  Has over 600 songs, so am avoiding moving to a new playlist or service.
Any ideas?
