Problems with Windows Phone 8 app

Recently Spotify keeps going "offline" on my Windows Phone 8. It also does something to my phone so my phone can't connect to my email accounts. Another friend of mine with a Windows 8 Phone is having the same problem. Any idea what is going on?

Removing the application from the phone and installing it again from the Store helped, I can now stream music on my phone for the first time

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

I am going to ask for this to be moved into the correct section, so you have a better chance of getting support. Does this happen on both 3G and WiFi ?

Have a quick search through the other topics in this section someone else might have posted about this issue already 😉

Having the same problem since the beginning.

Nokia Lumia 920 - only on 3G, not on WiFi.

App version 2.0 (now, but appear before as well)

Thanks

David

Having the same problem on my Nokia Lumia 521.

The app works when connected to WiFi but on 4G it stays offline. Really there's no point for me to pay for the premium service if I can only use Spotify w/ wifi access.

Same problem with my 4G Lumia 925 WP8. Currently an useless app for my phone.

Got same problem, spotify is in offline mode

Windows Phone 8
Nokia Lumia 920

App version: 2.0
Kernal version: 0.6.4.113.gf895e1a1

My mobile has a working TCP/IP connecting using WIFI, (mobil data is normally disabled due to data caps).
But I have tested with mobile data enabled, same result

I have actually never managed to play a song using Spotify on my telephone 😞

Are you logging in using Facebook?

Unfortunately, removing the app and reinstalling, did not solve my problem.

I have also restarted several times the device.

No syncing going on
Nokia 920 with WP8. Latest Spotify app..

Can you stream ok?

Yes, I can.

This is why it is so annoying.

Do you have enough free storage space on your devices internal memory (not an SD card)?

I have a Nokia 920, no SD card.

I have deleted the app, then I had 1 GB free space.

I restarted, then re-installed the app.

I started to sync, now "storage used" reads 440 MB. Memory status still indicates 515 MB free.

Syncing hangs every now and then, sync state changing between syncing and pending, but no progress after having synced something like half of the songs.

I have also tried PC syncing as suggested: synced all songs on a notebook, had the notebook and the phone in the same WiFi network - no progress. Spotify PC application does not even list the device under "devices".

I cannot even decide what may go wrong, and the app is not very helpful to see it, either...

If its the same as iOS, Spotify will stop synching when there is approx 500MB free space to leave room for other applications. So wondering is it just a case of needing more space.

Your WP8 device won't appear in the desktop client as that type of WiFi synching is only supported on iOS and android.

Peter,

This seems to have worked. It is syncing properly, although very slowly for whatever the reason may be..

I would be gladful, though, if these "features" are somewhere properly documented.

It may be my oversight, but I did not see anything on this - until you now told me.

I would also suggest Spotify to change/update its FAQ on:

"Syncing your Windows phone with Spotify.

Please make sure that you have the latest Spotify mobile version.

To sync your phone with Spotify:

  1. Log in to Spotify on your computer
  2. Connect your phone to the same wifi network as your computer (make sure that your computer is connected to the wifi network wirelessly)
  3. Log in to the Spotify app on your phone
  4. Your phone should now appear under “Devices” in your Spotify desktop client.
  5. Select your device in the Devices list
  6. Choose the playlists you would like to sync for offline use on your phone. When syncing your phone with Spotify no content will be removed."

As you said, this is not how it is supposed to work.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Péter

I had never noticed that - thanks for the report I'm getting it escalated now.
