Ive been having this exact same issue for months now. Im hoping someone has an answer to this eventually. It is subtle but it totally throws me off.
Hi there @floobadoo_cat, @Liamsexton99,
Thanks for reaching out. Apologies for the delay in our reply to this thread, we just came across it.
Could you please elaborate a little on what the exact behaviour you've noticed? Namely, how consistent or inconsistent is the behaviour? Does it always happen on certain songs or does it randomly happen on a variety of content. If necessary, please test this behaviour more extensively and let us know any details you find related to affected songs, consistency of the behaviour or if it's just sporadic.
In the meantime, consider performing a clean reinstall on affected devices. This can help with a multitude of issues, hopefully including this one.
Let us know how it goes.
Hello Joan,
This happens for me on every single song regardless. I will attempt a clean install and see if it fixes it and ill see if it happens from my PC or if it only happens on my phone (Galaxy S23). Also you guys should totally do a discount for long term users or discounted 1 year subscriptions. Ive been using Spotify for almost a decade and love it/recommend it to everyone. Thank you!
-Liam
I have this issue too (Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab s6) and tried everything starting with the playback and qualitiy seeting to reinstalling the app to wiping the android cache partition
I tried the following
playing with the settings gapless, crossfade, audioquality, automix, normalize volume. Nothing helped, though setting crossfade to 1 second helped with albums (but not everytime). For playlists the transitions sound awful
I made a clean reinstall and wiped the cache partition in android, which only helped the first time I tested, the next day the issue returned.
I can say 9 times out of 10 the gapless playback does not work, mostly for tracks that I played before (and are already stored in the cache I guess?)
Hey folks,
Thanks for your replies.
@Liamsexton99, apologies for the late reply, we somehow missed your comment.
We're happy to hear you're enjoying the service! We actually do offer a discounted yearly subscription, however, it's only available as a gift card. If you're using Premium Individual and gift cards are available in your country, feel free to check them out.
@aecid, kudos for the troubleshooting you've tried so far.
Now, regarding the issue - can you both try reproducing it while your phone/tablet is plugged in? If the issue is not present, it's most probably due to the device's battery optimization settings, so try disabling them or adding Spotify as an exception.
Keep us posted.
Hey @aecid,
Thanks for your reply and for all the info shared .
Thanks for sending us the video recording, it was very helpful. In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info, Just to confirm, does this happen when:
On another note, it'd be awesome if you could send us:
Keep us in the loop!
I tested with bluetooth, wired headphones, directly from the speakers, all have the same issue. I also disabled dolby atmos in android settings, no change.
Basically this is a similar if not the same issue as reported in the iOS section
https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/Audio-dip-at-end-of-song/td-p/5589435
I also tested with a fresh account on the other device (Galaxy Tab s6). It has the same issue.
I would suggest it has something to do with OneUI by Samsung, as both devices are Galaxys, but then again iOS users experience this as well.
I noticed the issue since march. Since then, there were several updates OneUI, Android, Google Services and Spotify.
I currently have version 8.9.40.509
Hey folks,
Thanks for all your replies and for the info shared.
We'd like to continue investigating this behavior. @floobadoo_cat, @Liamsexton99, in that sense, please send us the following:
@aecid, thanks for all the info. Please send us the above details about your Galaxy tab.

Hey folks,
Hope you're doing great.
@aecid, thanks for keeping us in the loop so diligently. @floobadoo_cat, @Liamsexton99, would you mind checking if this continues to happen on the new version of the app? Remember to send us the info mentioned here, so we can send it to the right team.
We'll be on the lookout!
Update: I now have a galaxy s24 ultra and still experience this issue...
Hi there @aecid,
Thanks for keeping us updated on this.
We want to gather all the relevant info before reporting the situation to the team in charge. You mentioned before that this mostly happens for tracks you've played before, is that correct? If you try to play an album or playlist you haven't listened to before, is the transition between songs better?
On another note, @floobadoo_cat and @Liamsexton99, if you're still experiencing this behavior, could you send over the info previously requested by @AlejaR?
We'll be here!

I assumed this, but with the new phone I checked with the songs I checked before, and the first transition was fine, the second transitiion had the stutter. For now I would say it is completly random.
Today I listended to oxygené by Jean Michel Jarre, which has smooth transistions between the tracks, and there it was more subtle, not like a stutter, but as is gapless playpback was not working. You could definitley hear there was a new track
Hi @aecid,
Thanks for the reply. This issue seems to be quite intermittent and we've been mostly unable to reproduce this on our end. We'll happily pass your feedback onto the appropriate team. Be advised however that we cannot say for certain at the moment when or if this is going to get addressed. Make sure to keep the app updated to always benefit from all the latest features and improvements.
Cheers!
this issue persists for me, I created a different thread with the same issue before realizing this one was older and more in-depth. Any word on a forthcoming update?
Sadly no,
The latest post of joan indicates they do not bother to resolve it because they claim they cannot reporduce it. Pretty disappointing if you ask me. I will start looking for another service
