My Question or Issue
As of recently, whenever I switch between my phone and google home mini or vice versa, whatever playlist I am listening to starts back from the beginning. This happens on regular playlists, a song radio, daily mix etc. It used to pick up where it left off, so it seems like something changed recently.
I've also noticed this the past few months. The first time I really noticed it was when I was on a road trip, stopped to get some gas and use the restroom, turn Spotify back on in my car and realize the first song in my queue was playing again. Then the songs that were after it were playing again. Just because the app had restarted? This seems to happen any time the app restarts after going through the queue a bit. I've noticed that sometimes hitting shuffle so it's back on shuffle brings it back to where it was but it doesn't always work.
Hoping for an update on this because it seems to have been a while since the last staff response to this thread, hopefully a fix will come soon, this should take priorities over useless features like messaging in-app when we just share links to songs on other apps anyways.
Yes, the issue is still happening. As referenced by others, it has been a consistent and on-going issue. It occurs with all playlists, including the AI DJ. He will say the same things and play the same things over and over when switching devices.
Devices: Samsung Galaxy Phone, Google Home Speakers, Android Auto, Spotify Desktop, Spotify App
Spotify Version: 9.0.76.1126
Troubleshooting Tried: Restarting app, clearing cache. Nothing has made any change whatsoever.
Issue: I will be listening to any playlist (my own, your created, AI DJ, etc.) on shuffle starting on my phone then connect to my JBL speaker, the "shuffled" songs repeat. Then switch to my google home speakers, the "shuffled" songs repeat again. I will get in my car, the "shuffled" songs repeat again. I get to the office and play via the desktop app, the "shuffled" songs repeat again. There could be minutes or hours between these changes in devices and the shuffled songs continue to repeat.
Normally I get so frustrated by this irritating repeats I just change to a different playlist but it's extremely frustrating and materially impacts my experience with Spotify. I spoken to multiple people who leverage Apple Music and this is not an issue...
Hey everyone,
Thanks for your patience while we looked into this.
We've heard from our teams that this should be fixed soon, so we'd recommend making sure to keep your app up to date at all times so you don't miss out on any developments.
The Community will be here if anything else comes up.
Wow... Let's see.
Why not make a real shuffle shuffle function and make everyone happy, while you're at it? I have so many rare songs that never gets played.. it's sad. If I want to listen to the same 20 songs over and over I'll just turn on the radio.
Sadly, this bug is back. Spotify pls fix this
Back? It never went away.. read the answer from the mod 2 posts up. Apparently they've finally decided to try to fix it.

My Question or Issue
I have the Free Spotify and recently (about a week ago), i could suddenly choose whichever songs i wanted to play, even on my mobile device. Then whenever i wanted to shuffle the playlist, it would start with the exact same list of songs in the exact same order everytime. Even when i choose another song to start off, the shuffle will continue in the same order. I cant turn shuffle off or add songs to queue and its starting to get super annoying. I cleared the cache, turned off Autoplay and redownloaded the app and everything but nothing has changed. What do i do??
Spotify shuffle is broken, theres a bug where when you change the device output on any device, the shuffle queue ends up repeating the exact same order of songs you had when you first shuffled a playlist. This doesnt just happen on iOS but happens on any device you end up changing the device output from, from my experience this is happening on IOS, MacOS and Windows on their latest OS, and on the latest Spotify version.
Although this happens when i change my device output, it seems to happen at complete random at times.
Below i have screenshots of my queue after i changed my device, and the songs i played 20 hours ago when i first shuffled my playlist.
this happens to me too and i have premium. it happens whenever you switch what device the music is playing from, and also happens when you remove/add songs from the playlist you are playing.
they need to fix this now its so annoying cause im always changing devices
New update to 1.2.73.474.g7b30bb2b version today. Finally after half of year I think it works good now.
