Hi!
I'm in the UK. Using Spotify on My computer and on my phone..
I need to confirm my email address, I'm on someone's family plan.
The problem is that the email address of my account is a yahoo one where they have deleted all emails in my account.
So I have my main account where the email is a yahoo one.
In the past I accidently made a free account with my current email, a gmail one.
I've since changed the email on the free account so that I could change my actual spotify account to my gmail email.
Even though I did this a couple of days ago, I'm still receiving an error saying 'sorry this email is already taken'.
So i'm stuck. I can't seem to confrim my email address (my yahoo one) and changing to my gmail email account isn't working.
Does anyone have any information?
Thanks!
Hi there @CherryOak,
Thanks for reaching out.
In order to use an email address on a Spotify account, that address mustn't be associated with any other Spotify account. If you still get the error after changing the address, then either the change was unsuccessful or there is some other account that still has the address. Another option is that, if you deleted the other account instead of changing the address, it can take 14-30 days for the associated email to be freed up for use on a different account.
Try and follow all of these steps to free up the email address. If the issue persists despite all the steps, feel free to reach out to our support team, they can assist you further. Make sure to have all of your payment information on hand, as our team will need it to find the payments and verify you as the account owner.
Hope this helps.
Hello everyone, i have a different issue, I somehow created by mistake a second account which with some research I deleted a bit ago so i could use only the one I have playlists on and so I could change/update that email associated with the account to the only account I use nowadays so that everything is under only 1 email address. When I go to edit profile and change my email it says email is already taken, is it because it takes time for it to associate that account has been deleted or how do I do this? Both emails are mine except one of them I don't use anymore and so I'd like to simply update to the one I do use but it says it's taken which is not since i deleted the other spotify account. I do not use nor have Facebook, only use google or login details to get into spotify.
I get this message : " We're sorry, that email is taken. "
Thank you

My Question or Issue
I have my Spotify account linked to my work email, but I have just been made redundant. I am unable to change to my personal email, as Spotify tells me there is an account linked to this. I have tried logging in with my personal email address in order to delete this account, but when I do, I'm told there is no account associated with this email address. How do I get Spotify to accept my personal email address - which apparently isn't linked to an account - when it thinks it's linked to a non-existent account?
