Unable to verify address for Family Plan

Unable to verify address for Family Plan

Hello

I have been invited to be a member of a family plan. When I try to redeem the plan using the provided link, after I enter my address, I get an error saying:

" Unable to join you to this Family Plan. We have not been able to confirm thay you live in the same address as the main account owner"

This is very weird because I do live in the same address as the main account owner so I don't know why do I get this error.

Thanks and regards

unprecendent amount of bull s h i t from spotify about this

I am having this same problem.  I am paying the family premium account but am unable to get other users verified.

My family members living at the same address cannot verify the premium account family invitation with our address.  I cannot find anywhere on my account profile setting where my address is listed.

Is this because my billing address is different than my living address?

Is this a problem with the spelling of the street I live on, for examply we sometimes write "Avenida Calle", sometimes "Av calle", sometimes just "Calle", all of which work for this address? (I cannot verify how I wrote this when registering for Premium Family).

I'm feeling a bit cheated out of the cost of family membership.  We've been with Spotify for a few years now and I like the service, but I wonder how smart this monpolized business plan is in a tech world that shifts so rapidly.

Hint: there are other music streaming services, and we are getting pretty frustrated trying to figure how to use yours correctly.

Hey @cdveston

If you're the Family Admin, send the invites again, and let them accept the invite logged in with their own username in the app and in the website.

They should make sure to type the address exactly as the Admin did, and also be sure all Family members use the same Internet connection (Home network) regularly. Not doing so may be the cause of them being left out.

Hope it helps. 🙂

Unfortunately, for the time being, it’s not possible to check or change the address registered on an existing Premium for Family subscription.

If you move, or don't remember your address details, you need to create a new account, subscribe to Premium for Family on that account, and cancel the subscription on your old account.

After that, contact customer support, and they'll transfer your playlists from your old account to the new one. 🙂

For those of you who got kicked out of the Premium Family, because they didn't respond to the E-Mails by Spotify:

After the re-invitation didn't work (Error 3),  I contacted SpotifyCares (in German SpotifyHilft) on Facebook and explained my problem. I convinced them that I am living with my brother ( who is the admin) and named our adress. They responded, that they changed something in my account and that I should try again. It worked!

Me and my brother live along way from eachother, he lives with his girlfriend and im staying with my mom, takes about 3 hours to him with train, the setup spotify has is retarded in my opinion.

Hi! Same thing happened to me. I can’t join the family account even though I live in the same address. And even if I make a new account. Hoping I could get a quick response.

Hey @saydizon

Tell your Family Admin to send the invite again. Accept the invite logged in with your own username in the app and in the website.

Same here, Spotify can you fix that? Im having the same problem. I know its not orthodox, but I do live with my wife and kids.

Yes, it helps me in the decision not to sign a Family Account. After reading about all this problems i'm not crazy to risk....

Thanks for the warning 😉

I have the same issue.. I registered my address for the first time and when I have asked to customer support they gave me a minimized version of the address, totally different to the one that Ia have entered. So, do I have to ask to customer support for my address as Spotify stored every time I want to add a family member?

People here are Spotify users since always, please improve your service.

If you move you have to create a new account...?  That's quite possibly the dumbest thing I've heard in a good long while.  What kind of technology company is unable to change something as simple as the user's address.  Bad enough to not have a front end option accessible to the user, but unable or unwilling (not sure which is worse) to change it and simply telling the customer to create a new account is unacceptable.  There is a lot tied to an account that goes beyond just your playlists.  Listening history used for Discovery Playlist, for one, but also all the connections from people you follow and people that follow you, as well as the specific URIs associated with resources like your playlists.  We haven't even discussed the fact that your developer account can be tied to the account that you use on a daily basis.  I sincerely hope that "create a new account" is not the official solution.

I was thinking about going for Family Premium with my wife who lives at the same address, but after reading this thread I think I'll wait until Spotify improve verification procedure. Creating new account to update address is NOT a solution. As the address is personal data which is protected by law, every user should have ability to see and update this.
