My Question or Issue

Recently Spotify has been making songs sound like absolute garbage (I have streaming and download quality set to highest) and only the first song that I play actually sounds like its at anything above 60kb/s. Sometimes halfway through the song, quality will drop tremendously to the point of being unable to even listen to that cancer any longer.

WHAT I HAVE TRIED :
Reinstalling, restarting (pc and app) , reinstalling windows, all audio drivers, different audio devices, signing out of account and back in, Turning off volume levelling, turning off hardware acceleration.

None of the above have helped or solved anything, sometimes with a restart or when i delete the cache by resetting spotify from windows it will play one or two songs at normal quality but then it will again just **bleep** right back off to ear cancer on the next one or halfway through it.

how do i fix this ? i cant keep this app open for more than two songs i might as well just use youtube 😕

Hey @dcburg3r

Thanks for posting - we’re here to help!

If reinstalling the app and deleting the cache didn't fully solve the issue you might need to check if any battery optimization settings or data cleaning apps run active on your mobile device. Such features can often prevent the app from operating at full capacity so make sure you deactivate them.

On your PC, check the hosts file for entries that need to be deleted. Follow the steps described here on how you can do that.

If it still persists, check if this might be account-related. Simply try logging in with a different Spotify account on your device. If it works as expected with another account, you can follow the steps in this Spotify Answer next.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
